Users are expected to pay higher electricity bills from April 1 as Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is considered to have accepted the decision of enhancing the tax. 19 Dead After Container Comes Off Truck, crashes with Passenger Bus In TN

Over 19 people were dead and several are feared ensnared in debris following the bus in which they were traveling in was hit by a container that had come off a truck approaching from the opposite side on a roadway in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore, the police stated. One woman laborer was dead and 15 others wounded in a road collision at Apur village of Athmakur Mandal in the region on Tuesday night. The dead were recognized as B Lingamma (60), agriculture. According to police, the death was caused due to overturning of the tractor in which the laborers were traveling. The tractor overturned while escaping two vehicles coming in the opposite direction. According to Athmakur ( S) SI Balu Naik, on Monday morning, as many as 35 agriculture labors of Athmakur ( S) Mandal went to Machenepally of Nutankal Mandal in the district to pluck chillis in an agriculture land and the tractor in which they were traveling was overturned at Apur while returning home in the evening. All the 15 injured were shifted to the Government Area Hospital in Suryapet for treatment.

9 died, 41 injured as bus fall off from bridge in Odisha

20 hurt as State Transport bus overturns on Mumbai-Goa Highway

At least 20 passengers of a state transport bus were injured when the vehicle overturned at Mangaon on Mumbai-Goa Highway on Saturday, police said. The accident occurred in the early hours, when the ST bus, carrying 44 passengers, was heading towards Dapoli, an official said. While crossing a bridge near Kamalje village, the driver lost control of the bus, causing the vehicle to hit a barricade and turn turtle, he said. At least 20 passengers were injured in the incident and were given preliminary treatment, he added.

A four-member gang has been arrested on Thursday for smuggling ganja to Sri Lanka from Vishakapatnam. On January 4, the police recovered ganja from a car that rammed into a lorry while to Kurnool from Hyderabad. The police registered a case then and arrested four members. Disclosing the details, SP Rama Rajeshwari said that Satish and Kalyan, both hailing from Madurai in Tamil Nadu would smuggle the ganja. Satish and Kalyan with the help of Ramu, Murthy and Ram Reddy procured the ganja for Rs 6 per kg and were selling for Rs 11 kg in Hyderabad and Rs 12 per kg in Chennai.

The gang used to transport the contraband to Sri Lanka via Rameshwaram. On specific information that the gang was in Hyderabad, the police nabbed them. Satish, Kalyan, Ajit and Surendaram were sent to remand while a hunt was launched to nab Sivaneshwaram, Ramu, Murthy and Ram Reddy. The police seized 180 kg ganja worth Rs 21 lakh from them.

Going into details, an auto driver P Venkatadurga Rao (30), belongs to the Jakkampudi colony in Vijayawada has got married to Varalakshmi nine years ago. The couple has two sons. Two years ago, differences broke out between them and Varalakshmi left her husband and went to the parent’s house in Jojinagar along with her children.

Recently a month ago, she returned back to her husband’s place and she again went to her parents on the Sankranti festival and didn’t return back. Over this, Durga Rao became very upset and got addicted to alcohol. Last Tuesday night, he spoke with his mother Kumari for some time and went to sleep. The next day morning, when his mother brought tiffin for him and the door was locked from inside.

With the help of the locals, she opened the door and went into the house where she found him hanging in the kitchen room. Immediately, she lodged a complaint with the police station. In another incident, P Ganga Devi and her husband Durga Prasad resides at Priyadarshni convent street in the 30th division here in the city. The couple has two children.

Durga Prasad works as an auto driver. He has gone out on Tuesday and returned home under alcohol influence in the evening and slept on the roadside. On this, his wife confronted him and said to sleep inside the house and she went to her mother’s home in the neighborhood. When she returned home at 10 pm, she found Durga Prasad hanging himself in the living room. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot, registered a case and investigating further.

BTech student held for sharing morphed photos of women online

A BTech student was arrested on Friday by the Rachakonda Cybercrime police for sharing the morphed photos of a woman on social networking platforms. N Akshay (20), who was pursuing engineering in a college in Narapally had sent a friend request from a fake ID. When the woman accepted his request, the accused downloaded the photos of the woman. He then morphed the pictures with the nude photos and sent her.

The accused set one of the morphed pictures as display picture and posted the remaining on the fake account. The police said Akshay also made video calls to her and later deleted the fake account when she rejected his calls. A complaint was lodged by the victim’s mother in November 2019 with the Cybercrime police. She stated that an unidentified man had shared her daughter’s morphed pictures on the social networking site. The police who investigated the case caught hold of the accused on Friday at Lalaguda.

A policeman in Hyderabad was arrested on Wednesday after he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 and two bottles of liquor.

Sub-inspector P Sudheer Reddy and his senior had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a businessman to release him on what is called a “station bail”. On a complaint, the Anti-Corruption Bureau laid a trap and caught the cop accepting the bribe inside the businessman’s car at the police station in the posh neighborhood of Jubilee Hills.

The businessman was named in a Rs 34,000 cheating case filed by a woman who owned a salon, alleging that his wife had availed beauty treatments and that the couple did not pay for them.

The two policemen had reportedly assured the man that they would help him in settling the case in a Lok Adalat or a people’s court.

“At Jubilee Hills, we have caught Sudheer Reddy red-handed while accepting the bribe amount and two liquor bottles,” senior police officer Achcheshwara Rao, DSP of the Anti-Corruption Bureau said.

The arrested policeman’s senior Balavantaiah, with whom he spoke to on the phone before accepting the bribe, has reportedly escaped and the police are looking for him. The two cops had negotiated with the businessman and agreed to accept Rs 50,000.

Leopard spotted at Telangana university in Nizamabad

Students of Telangana University in Dichpally of Nizamabad district said they spotted a Leopard near MCA block inside the campus in the early hours on Friday. After the students complained, the varsity registrar alerted the forest officials who are examining the campus to learn if it is on the prowl.

Later, the accused in the case was killed by the Hyderabad police in an encounter during the crime scene recreation.
