World is at risk of losing benefits ocean provides: UN

April 22 (Telugu Bullet) The world is at risk of losing many of the benefits the ocean provides, warns the latest UN assessment on the state of the world’s ocean.

The first World Ocean Assessment (WOA I), released in 2015, had warned that many areas of the ocean had been seriously degraded, mostly due to the failure to deal with the pressures caused by human activities, including fishing, aquaculture, shipping, oil and gas exploitation, pollution and the release of greenhouse gases.

The latest assessment, released on Wednesday, notes the situation has not improved — and that many of the benefits that the ocean provides to people such as oxygen, food, jobs, medicine and climate regulation are increasingly being undermined by human activities.

Considered the only comprehensive global analysis that looks at social, environmental, demographic and economic trends affecting the state of the ocean, the assessment calls for an integrated sustainable management of coasts and the ocean, driven by science, technology and innovation.

“Better understanding of the ocean is essential,” said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the launch.

“As the assessment makes clear, ocean sustainability depends on us all working together — including through joint research, capacity development and the sharing of data, information and technology.”

Despite improvements in understanding of the state of the world’s ocean and its marine life in recent years, there are still significant gaps in scientific knowledge and capacity needed to ensure responsive policies that can help restore and sustain ocean health.

“We have only seen about 10 per cent of the ocean. So much of the ocean is yet to be explored and understood,” said Sylvia Earle, Marine Biologist and President of Mission Blue.

“This is the time to step back and dive in to really look at the problem; look at the solutions to see how the interests of humankind are so connected to the ocean.

“The ocean is in trouble. We need the ocean and the ocean now needs us to take care of the systems that make our existence possible,” she added.

The assessment points to the alarming pace of sea-level rise, combined with increasing storms and coastal urbanization, has led to coastal erosion and flooding in coastal cities.

Rising carbon dioxide emissions have led to ocean acidification and together with warming and deoxygenation resulted in loss of biological diversity.

The ocean heat content has more than doubled since the 1990s, severely affecting marine life and ecosystems.

The number of “dead zones” or areas with reduced oxygen in the ocean has increased from more than 400 globally in 2008 to about 700 in 2019.

Around 90 per cent of mangrove, seagrass, and marsh plant species, as well as 31 per cent of species of seabirds, are now threatened with extinction.

Marine litter is present in all marine habitats, affecting the environment and marine organisms through entanglement, ingestion and rafting of invasive species.

Overfishing is estimated to have led to an annual loss of $88.9 billion in net benefits.

Human-mediated movements have introduced about 2,000 marine non-indigenous invasive species, some of which pose significant biosecurity and biodiversity hazards.

Approximately 15 per cent of all sandy beaches worldwide are seeing retreating shorelines at an average trend of 1 m per year or more over the last 33 years.

“The regular process (the assessment) is absolutely key for developing the priorities for ocean science because it identifies stressors and impact — and this gives us information about where we have to find solutions,” said Vladimir Ryabinin, head of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission.

Why this exoplanet is at large distance from sun-like star?

London, April 21 (Telugu Bullet)  A giant planet orbiting at a large distance around a sun-like star has presented a puzzle to astronomers because it does not seem to fit either of the two most well-known models for the formation of large gaseous planets, according to a study.

The planet — YSES 2b — is located 360 light-years from Earth in the direction of the southern constellation of Musca (Latin for The Fly). The gaseous planet is six times heavier than Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system.

The newly discovered planet orbits 110 times more distant from its star than the Earth does from the sun (or 20 times the distance between the sun and Jupiter). The accompanying star is only 14 million years old and resembles our sun in its childhood, said the scientists.

“By investigating more Jupiter-like exoplanets in the near future, we will learn more about the formation processes of gas giants around sun-like stars,” said lead researcher Alexander Bohn from the Leiden University in the Netherlands. The findings are forthcoming in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics.

If the planet had grown in its current location far from the star by means of core accretion, it would be too heavy because there is not enough material to make a huge planet at this large distance from the star, the team explained.

If the planet was created by so-called gravitational instability in the planetary disk, it appears to be not heavy enough. A third possibility is that the planet formed close to the star by core accretion and then migrated outwards. Such a migration, however, would require the gravitational influence of a second planet, which the researchers have not yet found.

‘Bharat Bandh’ will not impact Goa: CM

0

The nationwide ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by farmers protesting against the three controversial farm bills, will have no impact in Goa, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Monday.

“There will be no impact,” Sawant told reporters outside his official residence in Panaji when asked about the preparations being undertaken by the state administration in view of the call for a nationwide strike.

The Bharat Bandh has been called by farmers’ associations in India, who are protesting outside the national capital against the three laws passed by the Central government recently. Sawant said that the three laws were in the interest of the farmers.

“The laws will help the farmers get a better price for their produce,” Sawant said. The Congress in Goa, meanwhile, announced its support for the pan-India strike.

“Goa Pradesh Congress Committee extends full support to the Bharat Bandh call given by various farmers unions on December 8. All Congressmen are requested to support the Bharat Bandh in solidarity with the farmers of the country who are agitating for their rights,” a statement issued by the Goa Congress said.

Thousands of deaths on the island .. Is it the devil? Humans?

The survivor returned to the island. The history of the island deals with the KGF movie. This is the story behind the island, which has become desolate overnight.

Highlight

The island’s name is Hashima Island. The most visited area in Japan.
The island is also known as Battleship Island.
The government does not allow people to go to the area alone.
Tourist operator is given conditional permission only to travel in groups.

No one lives on the island that was once known as the world’s most populous island. There is trepidation. The buildings on the island have reached the point of collapse. What’s more, those who enter the island hear strange sounds and shouts. What shapes are witnessing. What happened to the island? The area that was once crowded with the population has now become desolate.

The island’s name is Hashima Island. The most visited area in Japan. The island can be reached by an hour’s drive from Nagasaki. Known as the Ghost Town, the island is also known as Guankajima. The island is also known as Battleship Island. The government does not allow people to go to the area alone. Tourist operator is given conditional permission only to travel in groups. These are not conditions on the island. The sea around the island is also quite majestic. The weather is favorable for visiting the island for only a few hundred days a year. However, there is no guarantee that the sea will cooperate even in those days. Tour cancels each time. If you look into the history behind the island.

The KGBF Horror Version: The story of a bully size behind the island is hidden. Mines are rare on islands that are usually in the middle of the sea. Hashima Island is one of those rare islands. Mitsubishi Corporation bought the island in 1890 and started mining, as there are plenty of coal resources here. From 1895 to 1898, the island was mined to a depth of 199 meters. The company later moved the island to the island to hire miners for mining purposes. About three thousand people reached the island. For them, the company built and accommodated buildings in the form of apartments. The mercenaries lived a miserable life with only one room for the family in those buildings. Almost all of them experienced prison life.

In 1959 the population reached 5,259. The island has a size of 12 football fields and has about 30 concrete buildings. There were retail stores, supermarkets, bars, restaurants, school, hospital, library, gym, hairdresser, movie theater, temples, swimming pool facilities. However, they are now in ruins.

Of the 41,000 prisoners of war detained by Japan during World War II, 3,765 were moved here. Forced miners to work with them. They were not even fed. Bullies if not working. This has changed all week. Most of the survivors were in those mines.

According to San Jugwa, a coolie who escaped from the island, they saw him as a slave and moved to work from the age of 14. After the end of the war, 1,442 Korean workers and 722 Chinese workers were tortured to death. Jugwa claimed that the mercenaries jumped into the sea to escape the island, survived it, and in the meantime committed suicide.

Isn’t hell: it’s better to say hell than to say island. Because the place is not enough to bury the dead miners and prisoners of war. A crematorium was set up to burn the corpses. There are tens of thousands of corpses burning daily. If there were everlasting smoke coming out of the furnace, we could understand the extent of the deaths. However, after the atomic bombing in Nagasaki in 1945, hostages and prisoners of war were freed.

The real story is now: The island, which has provided Japan with an enormous income, is also expected to play a key role. But then, Sean reversed there. After the mining ceased, there was no employment for the people. More than half the people evacuated the island on a ship overnight. The people who left the area and remained there were horrified.

The objects were moving in their homes, and there were noises in the night. What shapes move in front of the eyes. So they left the island. They also left the goods they had earned. No one has landed on the island since then. Those who went alone never returned. Only journalists visit the island with security officers. However, as the tourist is keen to see the island, the government gives conditional permission.

The same terrifying feeling: some claim that the devil killed those who went to the island alone, while others believe that they were drowned in the sea. However, it is still a mystery what happened all week. Tourists visiting the island are in a state of ruin. That silent diva

The devil is in front of God.

Upon entering the hut .. scary screams and screams increase heart palpitations. Half the lives of the devotees of the darshan are joined in the gall. It is a risk to take Prasad home!

Highlights
Located in the Dausa district of Rajasthan, this temple is named after the Sri Mehandipur Balaji Temple.
It is believed that the temple of Venkateswara Swamy is everything.
But, this is the temple of Hanuman. However, there is no statue of Hanuman in common temples.
It is like looking angrily with big big eyes. Devotees believe that the demons will flee when they see the statue.

The mind is very calm and cozy when visiting the hut. But, when entering the hut, the legs and hands tremble. The heart bells increase as the bell rings. Screams, screams, screaming people, vommo .. One more thing. In India, there is a terrifying atmosphere not seen in any temple. It is a mistake to think that the temple is empty without devotees. Located in the Dausa district of Rajasthan, this temple is named after the Sri Mehandipur Balaji Temple.

the devil is in front of god.

The Balaji paraphrase is supposed to be the temple of Venkateswara Swamy. But, this is the temple of Hanuman. However, there is no statue of Hanuman in common temples. It is like looking angrily with big big eyes. Devotees believe that the demons will flee when they see the statue. They could never believe. Thousands of devotees from all over the country flock to the temple to learn about the temple that has the power to rid the demons.

the devil is in front of god.

Devotees enter the temple to experience a very strange feeling. Devotees flock here on a regular basis to ward off evil spirits. The glorious Anjaneya Swamey himself is seen here with miraculous scenes of healing. Many scientists, both domestic and foreign, have done many research on this. But, the secret behind it is unknown to anyone.

Ghosts .. People who behave strangely will return to normal when they arrive. Devotees in large numbers visit this temple beyond the caste. The devil is brought to the temple and attained by the Swami. Hundreds of such victims are found here. Their screams make the temple a terrifying atmosphere. This is why ordinary devotees hurry to go to the temple. They are also haunted by fears that the demons who leave them will catch them.

Devotees who exterminate the monsters offer Balaji gifts like Aroji, Swamani, Dharakshit, and Bundy. Inside the temple, Bhairava Baba is visited and offered as an all-night life. No one should take home the offerings offered in this temple. If they do, the devotees will feel bad for them. Pilgrims visiting this temple should not eat meat or alcohol.

Devotees who cast out demons are held only on Tuesdays and Saturdays. On these two days, people flock to the tandapotam. A team of scientists from the German, Netherlands and New Delhi researched the temple in 2013. However, the mystery behind it remains unknown. During the exorcism, the evil spirits must be left alone in a special place in the temple. After a while they return to full health, just like normal people.

Lepakshi: Do you know the secret of the temple ..!

0

Lepakshi is about 15 km from the town of Hindupuram. Lepakshi is a historical temple that seems to have been there to look at the beautiful and magnificent carvings of the sculptors. The temple has a lot of significance.

Built-in the 16th century by the brothers Virupunna and Veeranna with 70 pillars, there is not a single pillar adjacent to the ground. The pillar that seems to be hanging in the air, let us now know what is the secret that can take a thin cloth from one side to another.

Let us first find out how the name of the Lepakshi temple came to be: “If Ravana takes Sithammatalli and Ravana is taken to save her, Sriramachandra who saw the wounded Jatayu called Le Birdi, says that the Jatayu rises and hence the place is named Lepakshi.”

According to another story. King Arooparayana Treasurer Virupunna took over the construction of the temple without government’s permission. Most of the construction was completed, and the construction of the Kalyana Mandapam was taken up by the King’s opponents during the construction. The king’s imposition of the impending punishment of the king himself, was to remove both eyes and throw the Kalyana Mandapam to the south wall. The locals see the red markings on the wall, as if they were eye-catching landmarks. Lepakshi is said to be caused by the words ‘defect’ – akshi (blind).

lepakshi: do you know the secret of the temple ..!

lepakshi: do you know the secret of the temple ..!

If the base of all the pillars in the temple is unintentional, there is only one pillar, with a gap between the base of the pillar to about a quarter of an inch. If the collapse of the pavilion for any reason, such as an earthquake and the threat of natural disasters, the pillars will be dismantled and the pillars will fall under this pillar and all the pillars will collapse. This is another unknown that we all know.
Prior to independence, an engineer tried to pass a test, which caused the roof to move a bit. Although there is no evidence that this is the basis for the entire pavilion.

The hanging pillar is the main attraction and attracts visitors. All the people who come here see this miracle and they also test the hangar.

The secret of the Kailash Temple .. Isn’t it built by humans? Where are those caves?

the secret of the Kailash Temple .. Isn’t it built by humans? Where are those caves?
Without cement, bricks, and stones. The stone was built from the top of the hill to the bottom. Moreover, under the temple, there is only a 2 feet man cave. The Kailash Temple is an elusive mystery.

Highlights
The specialty of the temple is that it is molded into a temple without any use of stones or cement.
Another miracle is that it goes down from the top of the hill rather than down.
However, who built this temple.
There are many mysterious secrets in this world. Unlike the Egyptian Miramids, the Bermuda Triangle, and many more mysteries still remain a mystery. One of them is in India. Same .. Kailash Temple. The temple is located in Cave 16 of the 32 Ellora Caves, 50 km from Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

The specialty of the temple is that it is molded into a temple without any use of stones or cement. Another miracle is that it goes down from the top of the hill rather than down. However, who built this temple In the days when technology was not available such a magnificent temple was built.

Without technology ..: To build a temple-like this nowadays .. need a blueprint and engineers. But then, without any hesitation. It is truly amazing that all the sculptors have carved a 100-foot high hill as a temple. Archaeologists estimate that 4 lakh tonnes of stone was built over the 18 years. However, according to inscriptions, the temple was completed in 783 AD. The statues have been examined. It was 150 years old.

the secret of the kailash temple

the secret of the kailash temple .. isn't it built by humans? where are those caves?

It is said that the Aurangzeb sent his army to destroy the temple, and that he was able to destroy only 5 percent of the work for three years. The landmarks are clearly visible when you go to this temple. It would be wonderful if such a massive structure was constructed of a single stone of three stories high. The Ramayana, Bhagavatam, and Mahabharata are carved into the walls of the temple. The pillar of the temple premises and the lions and planets in its area are impressive.

Another miracle: The construction of the temple is considered a major mystery. But underneath the phone is another mystery hidden. Same underground city. Considering its construction. It seems that it was not built by humans. It seems impossible for a man to go into a carved two-foot tunnel in the temple. Also, the ramparts at the bottom of the temple are very deep. Considering all this, there seems to be an underground city under this temple. It is possible for the smallest person or child to move from the cave to the bottom. Against this backdrop, there are doubts whether the Aliens wandered here thousands of years ago. Also, some of the sculptures on the temple look like small, shapeshifters.

Where does that water go ?: It is not known where the water of the Shiva Lingam in the temple goes. There are doubts that they will move into the underground city below. Many say that the chariots on the floor of the temple are for air and light. However, the government shut them down for fear of falling off the rails. If drones can be sent into those caves where humans cannot go .. find out more. However, the government is not ready for this. Those tunnels have been closing for the last 40 years. This has raised doubts that the caves may have valuable funds.

So why is there a story in Marathi legends about this Kailash Temple? When the local king became seriously ill his wife prayed to Lord Shiva. On this occasion, the king said that he would build the temple if he was fully healthy. The rhythm enticed him to fast until he saw the tower. The king recovered. To satisfy the queen, the then sculptors cleared the hill and attempted to rebuild the temple. A sculptor realizing this, she said that if it was built, it would take hundreds of years to see the temple tower. The temple was taken from the top of the hill rather than the front. First, the temple tower was carved. The queen was forced to fast. That is why the temple is so special.

Rethink on Amaravati?

HIGHLIGHTS

Will the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) relook into the environmental clearances given to the proposed capital of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati, coming up on the banks of Krishna river in view of the Chennai disaster now?

Fallout of Chennai deluge New Delhi: Will the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) relook into the environmental clearances given to the proposed capital of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati, coming up on the banks of Krishna river in view of the Chennai disaster now? This question is making rounds in the capital with some sections waking up to the potential disaster of such plans following the inundation of Chennai.

Ministry sources point out similarities in comparison and do not rule out a similar situation arising in future in Amaravati, too. The fact that fertile lands are a part of the proposed Capital Region Development Authority area does not augur well for Amaravati, the clearances for which were secured under mysterious circumstances without proper “methods”, officials pointed out. “Political pressure was the key to accord clearances in view of Prime Minister’s presence at the foundation-laying ceremony of Amaravati. The rest is up to the powers that be”, they say.

What is worrying the ministry is the fact that Amaravati could be sitting on a powder keg as going by the plans of the CRDA of the AP government out of 217 sqkm, 127 sqkm was fertile agriculture land and 30-40 per cent of the area was in the river basin itself. The officials are now worried that this could lead to Chennai like situation in future. ADVERTISEMENT “Again, as per the master plan in all 5.99 lakh hectares of fertile land were there in the proposed capital area of 7450 sqkm and if the area was converted into a concrete jungle, would it become another floating city like Chennai” officials wonder. A Congress Rajya Sabha member from AP, KVP Ramachandra Rao had already sought to know from the ministry whether it was safe to build such a capital. He urged the ministry to explain the basis for clearing the proposals and considering de-notification of 44,000 acres of forest land too. He questioned the rationale in according the EC without consulting the National Disaster Management Authority regarding floods in the Krishna basin area, particularly in the CRDA’s master plan. In fact, the National Green Tribunal had in its earlier order asked the state to halt all work on the proposed project till clearances were obtained. It may be recalled that despite the fact that the government required just 450 hectares for government offices, it had acquired 33,000 acres of fertile land and had been seeking denotification of 44,000 hectares of forest land in addition to expanding the city limits to 7,450 sqkm of area. It also recently proposed to acquire more land from the island villages. The Centre, too, is in a dilemma as far as Amaravati is concerned, as “it could not strictly go by the norms as AP needs a capital and it was up to the state government to locate it where it needs to be. We wish all safeguards are taken in this case. As the preparation of master plan is still under way, hope the government goes for the best practices to prevent a disaster. Questions shall remain anyway”, the ministry sources add.

Oceans cover more than 70% of our planet. On World Oceans Day, let’s spare a moment to look back at the harm we have done to the pristine waters.

They are mainly caused by irresponsible industrial pollution, runoff from agriculture, and human sewage entering the oceans Ocean acidification due to increased carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere

Carbon dioxide is absorbed by the ocean waters which in turn inhibits the growth and survival of the marine organisms. 90% of the sea birds are dying due to the consumption of floating plastic garbage in the oceans ADVERTISEMENT Birds feed on plastic floating on the water, mistaking it for food, and over time this ingestion leads to death. About 80 percent of the plastic trash that makes up the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is believed to have originated from land-based activities. Careless tourism, coral mining for commercial purposes, and pollution have caused some irreversible damage to them. Overfishing has caused major changes in the marine ecosystem Overfishing can wreak havoc to marine ecology and completely disrupt the food chain. Unsustainable fishing practices over the last few decades have pushed our oceans to a point where they may now be on the verge of collapse. Offshore oil drilling is leading to the death of turtles, dolphins and other marine Organisms Oil destroys the insulating and water-repellent properties of the marine animals, exposing them to harsh environment.
