Due to the heavy rainfall, 7 people died and over 70 were injured.
During the past 24 hours, heavy rain and thunderstorms in Pakistan‘s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have resulted in the deaths of at least seven people and injuries to over 70 others. The National Disaster Management Authority has forecast further thunderstorms and rain in the province by Tuesday morning.
In the Bannu division, five people were killed and 67 others were injured, while in Peshawar, two people lost their lives and five were wounded. The Commissioner of the Bannu division stated that heavy rain and strong winds affected three districts in the division since Sunday afternoon.
The local administration, including rescue teams and medical personnel, was on high alert and dispatched to the affected areas to provide immediate relief. The severe weather also caused damage to houses, urban flooding, and disruptions in communication systems. Earlier in June, the province experienced another bout of intense windstorms, heavy rain, and hailstones, resulting in 27 fatalities and 145 injuries.
