Rabies-infected girl bites 40 people before dying in UP village
In a disturbing incident, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl was bitten by a stray dog at her maternal uncle’s house in Kyolari village of Konch tehsil about two weeks ago. Instead of seeking proper medical attention, the family took her to a quack. Unfortunately, after the dog’s bite, the child began to exhibit symptoms of rabies, which were ignored by her family.Tragically, over the course of the next fortnight, the girl went on to bite or scratch around forty people in the village.
It was reported that the stray dog responsible for biting her had already died.Eventually, the severity of the girl’s condition became evident when she collapsed. Her family rushed her to the district hospital, and from there, she was referred to Jhansi for further treatment . Despite the efforts, the girl sadly succumbed to the rabies infection and passed away.In response to the situation, the CHC (Community Health Center) in-charge, Dinesh Bardariya, assured the villagers that there is no need to panic as they have enough rabies injections available to treat those who were bitten by the girl during her infectious period.
