AIIMS Mangalagiri Hosts Grand Celebration for Chandrayaan Mahotsav:
AIIMS Mangalagiri celebrated ‘Chandrayaan Mahotsav’ to honor Chandrayaan 3‘s remarkable soft landing on the Lunar South Pole, showing appreciation for the dedication of Isro scientists. Prof. Sudhanshu Sekhar Mohapatra, dean and chief instructor at the Institute of Aerospace Medicine in Bengaluru, highlighted the event’s significant scientific implications and its potential to inspire young individuals to pursue careers in space exploration and science.
During the event, Prof. Sudhanshu Sekhar Mohapatra delivered a lecture on ‘Aerospace Medicine — Opportunities, Challenges & Future Prospects’ for MBBS students, emphasizing India’s rise as a global scientific research leader. He encouraged students to foster scientific and logical thinking, which can benefit both their careers and society.
The celebration featured a display of past space research milestones by Isro, including a kiosk with a rocket launch replica. The nursing staff crafted a Rangoli illustrating the momentous soft landing of the Vikram Lander, while a recording of the moon’s gentle touchdown played, featuring a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. MBBS and BSc Nursing students exhibited their patriotism through a variety of cultural activities.
AIIMS Mangalagiri’s director and CEO, Prof. Mukesh Tripathi, lauded the accomplishments of Isro scientists. He acknowledged that their successful development of indigenous technology and innovations in space missions, such as Chandrayaan-3, opens doors for medical research in fields like remote sensing, control systems, automation, and Artificial Intelligence. The event saw the participation of academic deans, medical professionals, students, and faculty members.
