Andhra Pradesh Student Delegation Visits The World Bank!:

A delegation from the government schools of Andhra Pradesh, India, made a significant impact on the international stage during their visit to the World Bank headquarters in Washington DC. The delegation consisted of 10 students, two teachers, and two senior officials, The delegation included Mr. B Srinivasa Rao (IAS), who serves as the State Project Director of Samagra Siksha, as well as Rathnakar Pandugayala, and two senior officials.

They were invited for an informal lunch and an extensive session on Education and health with leading World Bank officials. The World Bank officials, including Ms. Rifat Hasan, Lead Health Specialist, Ms. Tracy Wilichowski, World Bank Analyst, and Ms. Laura Gregory, Senior Education Specialist, praised the education initiatives led by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.

These initiatives encompassed the acclaimed ‘AmmaVodi program,’ ‘Nadu-Nedu school infrastructure development project, and the introduction of English language education along with the use of bilingual textbooks in government schools. The World Bank expressed a strong desire to deepen its involvement in the YSRCP government’s goal of investing in human capital.

During the interaction, World Bank officials actively sought input from students in Andhra Pradesh government schools on how to further enhance this partnership in the future. The students presented insightful suggestions, highlighting their dedication to improving education and fostering international cooperation. Their proposals included: Creating a program tailored to sensitize parents about the importance of prioritizing and supporting education.

Establishing a shared online platform for students worldwide to exchange ideas and engage in discussions on topics like climate change and sustainable development.

Initiating numerous exchange programs with prestigious foreign universities.

Introducing activity clubs in government schools, focusing on areas like the environment and culture.

Introducing the concept of Model United Nations and organizing state-level competitions based on this model.
