Apple Watch prevents a woman from dying from a blood clot
A woman’s life was potentially saved by her Apple Watch, which woke her up from a nap and alerted her to a high heart rate. Kimmie Watkins, feeling unwell and lightheaded, decided to take a nap to feel better.
However, her Watch detected a heart rate of 178 beats per minute and alerted her with an alarm, indicating that her heart rate had been high for an extended period. When she consulted her physician, she was diagnosed with a saddle pulmonary embolism, despite having no previous history of heart issues.
Watkins is now undergoing treatment with blood thinners and working on rebuilding her stamina. This incident adds to a growing list of cases where Apple i-Watches have played a role in detecting health conditions and potentially saving lives.
