Maharashtra Congress MLA Nitesh Rane, who went to monitor the bridge construction work on the Mumbai-Goa national highway in Kankavali area yesterday, was unhappy.
Nitesh was outraged over Government engineer Prakash the lack of service road.
As the MLA himself attacked, MLA’s followers whipped him with a bucket of mud and poured it on him.
He was then tied to the bridge railing. The video about this has become wildly viral on social media.
Kankawali police have registered cases against Nitesh Raney and his followers in connection with the attack on a government official.
The MLA and 16 of his supporters were arrested by the police yesterday evening.
The main accused is not only the Maharashtra Congress MLA but also the son of former chief minister Narayan Rane.
Another 16 of his accomplices were also detained in the case.
