Kangana to Taapsee over tax raid jibe: ‘You will always remain sasti’

Mumbai, March 6 (Telugu bullet) The war between Kangana Ranaut and Taapsee Pannu just heated up on Saturday.

It all began when Taapsee took a jibe at the recent tax raid at her place and stated that, considering she was quizzed about a bungalow she never owned in Paris and a five-crore receipt, she didn’t “so sasti anymore”. This was in reference to a comment made by actress Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli in the past saying Taapsee was “sasti” (cheap).

“You will always remain sasti because you are sab rapists ka feminist… your ring master Kashyap was raided in 2013 as well for tax chori… government official’s report is out if you aren’t guilty go to court against them come clean on this … come on sasti,” tweeted Kangana as a retort.

Kangana’s tweet came after Taapsee wrote earlier in the day: “3 days of intense search of 3 things primarily 1. The keys of the “alleged” bungalow that I apparently own in Paris. Because summer holidays are around the corner 2. The ‘alleged’ receipt worth 5 crores to frame n keep for future pitching coz I’ve been refused that money before 3. My memory of the 2013 raid that happened with me according to our honorable finance minister P.S – ‘not so sasti’ anymore.”

The houses of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and his partners from his production house Phantom Films as well as Taapsee were raided by the IT department earlier this week.

A search was also conducted on the premises of filmmaker Vikas Bahl, and executives of Kwan Talent management. There was a report that stated that income tax authorities found discrepancies and manipulation of income, running into crores.

Telugu composer MM Srilekha: ‘Male ego comes in your way’

Hyderabad, March 6 (Telugu bullet)  MM Srilekha is the only female music composer of note in the Telugu film industry right now, having scored hit songs in films such as “Dharma Chakram”, “Moodu Mukkalaata” and “Preminchu”. She feels that music from Telangana always appeals to people all over India.

“Telugu music has been loved by everyone in the country. It is not new. The songs are such that people like either the lyrics or the music in general. It has a melodious base. So many tracks have become famous and tunes have been remixed. It is ever evolving,” she said.

“Unofficially I have composed for 11 years but on record, it has been just about eight years. I have grown up in a family where my father is into music and direction. So, I have grown up in that atmosphere. Becoming a music director came naturally to me,” says the music director, who is a cousin of music composer M.M. Keeravani and director SS Rajamouli.

While she thoroughly enjoys her job, Srilekha does highlight the challenges female musicians have to face in the country.

“It’s is a male-dominated industry and you have to face so many things. Time and again, the male ego comes in your way, be it from the director, the manager, producer or the actor. Everybody shows their ego to the music director, especially female directors. Generally, females are considered very sensitive and they forget that we are also technicians. You end up asking people, “why are you shouting at me”, “why are you calling me late”, when there is no reason for them to call,” she says.

The composer adds: “There should not be barriers. You have to cooperate with the director irrespective of gender. The orchestra people are all men and you have to give them instructions all the time. There is a constant hassle to convince the director and audience and you have to struggle and be thorough.”

On the occasion of Woman’s Day, the music director will participate as a panelist for The Indian Performing Arts Right Society Limited (IPRS) campaign called, “#HERmusic. She, along with other panelists, will discuss the growth of female musicians in the industry and the challenges being faced.

‘Nadiyon paar’ singer Rashmeet: Remakes if done beautifully, sound good

New Delhi, March 6 (Telugu bullet) Singer Rashmeet Kaur is on cloud nine following the success of her song, “Nadiyon paar”, a recreation of the popular Shamur track “Let the music play” she recorded for the upcoming horror-comedy “Roohi”, starring Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor, and Varun Sharma.

“You always expect a mixed reaction from the audience for a remake but I think this one is blasting everywhere and it’s overwhelming to see the kind of response it’s getting. (It is) trending at number one on YouTube ever since it released. I’m extremely grateful,” she tells us.

For the 26-year-old singer, remaking a classic isn’t a bad idea, but aIf remakes are done beautifully with a different take or new sounds, then they can actually sound good the same time she “personally feels that there’s so much talent out there that we don’t have to make remakes”.

“Remaking folk and Sufi always work, depending on how good the remake sounds, because people want to hear different interpretations from their favorite artists. It’s just like covering a song, but with your style, your improvisations, and swag in it. Those factors decide how good the response can be. If remakes are done beautifully with a different take or new sounds, then they can actually sound good,” she continues.

Rashmeet had no idea that she was going to record this song until she went inside the recording studio, and it took her “around two hours” to record the entire song. “You only get to know about that after entering the studio. The moment I heard the track I was blown away,” she says. So naturally, there were a few jitters when she was recording the song.

“Nadiyon paar is a classic. Yes, it’s always risky when it comes to remaking a song, but I’m so happy and grateful that I got to sing this classic as a remake and an authentic banger of a track,” she signs off.

Daniel Kaluuya smoked to get vocal texture right for his Globe-winning role

London, March 5: British actor Daniel Kaluuya has always been vocal about witnessing racism all around, yet he admits never being aware of “awakening a community”. This was something he says he only realised after preparing for his role of Fred Hampton in the upcoming film “Judas And The Black Messiah”.

Kaluuya has already won a Golden Globe as Best Supporting Actor for his role of Hampton and is also garnering an Oscar buzz.

The biographical film tells the story of Hampton, chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party in Chicago of the late 1960s. Hampton was betrayed by FBI informer William O’Neal (Lakeith Stanfield).

“The message in Chairman Fred Hampton’s words and ideas — his ultimate purpose — is to awaken his community. He doesn’t want them just to be free. He wants them to free themselves. I think that’s such a rational and clear way to empower others. I was never exposed to his message before, in school or otherwise,” says Kaluuya.

“As a Black Panther, he would go into all-white areas, Hispanic areas of the community, address what they had in common and stitch these poor areas together. He worked to feed their children, bring free healthcare to their communities. His ability to defuse, his skills as an orator-the thing that made him such an effective leader also brought him to the attention of the local and federal authorities,” says the 32-year-old.

Kaluuya says tried very hard to essay the role and even took up smoking to get into the skin of the character.

“I took up smoking to get a certain texture to my voice. I took singing lessons with an opera singer, to study breath and vocal control, preparing for his theatrical kind of performances, knowing that I’d be doing his speeches maybe ten hours in a day. I sang Gospel, James Brown, songs of the era,” he says.

“I read that Chairman Fred listened to speeches of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X to get auditory ideas. I’d watch footage of him during meals. And from the time I leave for the set, in the car, I’m in the dialect. I had worked three months with a dialect coach. It all contributed to building this important character,” he adds.

“Holistic lifestyle has been a part and parcel of my life even before I made my debut in Bollywood. I have always wanted to lead a healthy lifestyle and working out and eating right was always a top priority for me. I want to build something of my own in the health and nutrition space in the coming years and I have been researching the same for years now,” Vaani said.

“I want to actively promote and raise awareness about how important health is among the citizens of my country. Being healthy should be a top priority for us all, at all times. It really doesn’t take much to ensure that we are eating right and living right and I want to engage with people on the same,” she said.

Vaani said she has many great ideas and will be working round the clock to envision the feasibility of these ideas.

“I have many exciting ideas on this but it’s too premature for me to speak openly about it. As of now, I’m concentrating on being the best version of myself every single day and to showcase that to the people so that when I decide to start on my health journey, they will be convinced about it,” she said.

“I have to walk the talk and set examples for people to believe in my vision and I want to do just that for now,” said the actress, who has three back-to-back releases lined up over the next few months — Bellbottom, Shamshera, and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui.

Sunny Leone feels no different but says that when it comes to her children — Nisha, Noah, and Asher — the information or pictures she releases is by choice and that she and her husband try to keep their lives of their toddlers as private as possible.

“I believe what is out there is what I want to put out there. I think that we forget as people who consume digital content or on different social platforms, you are releasing information because you wanted to,” Sunny leone said

“So, what people think about it, you have to take it with a grain of salt and push that you are going to get negative backlash from it, as long as you are not hurting anyone or being bullied when you are releasing whatever content that you are releasing,” she said.

“The information or pictures we release of our children is by choice. We try to keep their lives as private as possible and when we are out and about, it is something that we have to explain and they have to get used to. That’s just the way their life is,” she said.

Sunny said that she asks her children if they are comfortable with the lights and the media glare.

“I always ask Nisha ‘are you okay or are you scared?’, ‘Do you want to say hi or do you not want to say hi’. Every single time she would say, ‘no I don’t’ or ‘I am okay. I have to respect that,” she said.

Sunny, who is currently shooting for the MTV show “Splittsvilla” in Kerala, said that her twins Noah and Asher are too young to be asked.

“When we are normal and out and about a lot we will have to ask them. Right now they are just so small you should just respect their feelings and the content that is released by us it is all by choice,” she said.

“I do notice a sense of protectiveness from a lot of people but also a sense of cynicism from a lot of people and a sense of negativity from a lot of people. Picking on me for no reason. I was talking about this to Mindy [Kaling] a couple of months ago. We were talking about, ‘why is it that you get so much negativity from your own community?” she said on the BBC Asian Network’s Beyond Bollywood podcast, according to dailymail.co.uk.

The actress, who has starred in the American TV show “Quantico”, and has been a part of Hollywood films such as “Baywatch”, “Isn’t It Romantic” and “A Kid Like Jake” also emphasized the need for people to acknowledge efforts of people who have pushed the bar for Bollywood.

“Very few brown people are in the entertainment business, you can count us on your fingers. We’re trying to create more opportunities for people like us so why is there so much negativity for us? When I started working in Hollywood I realized it’s not normal to people’s consciousness that a leading man or woman can be Indian in a mainstream Hollywood show.’ I’ve started noticing the difference between fans who know me and are protective of me and they are the wind beneath my wings. I also feel disheartened and discouraged by the other side,” Priyanka Chopra said.
