Google has clarified that it will not delete accounts
Google has clarified that it will not delete accounts with YouTube videos, despite its earlier announcement about deleting personal accounts that have been inactive for at least two years. In an updated blog post, the company stated that it currently has no plans to delete accounts with YouTube videos. This clarification brought relief to many users who were concerned about their video content being removed.
However, starting later this year, Google may delete accounts and their contents, including data within Google Workspace and Google Photos, if the accounts have not been used or signed into for at least two years. Google’s decision is based on the fact that abandoned accounts are more vulnerable to security risks and can be compromised, leading to potential misuse or malicious activities.
It’s important to note that this policy only applies to personal Google Accounts and will not impact accounts for organizations such as schools or businesses. While the policy is effective immediately, the deletion of inactive accounts will not begin until December 2023 at the earliest.
