HCA Seeks High Court Intervention to Unfreeze Bank Accounts:
The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), set to host certain World Cup matches at the Uppal stadium, has taken its plea to the Telangana High Court, requesting the unfreezing of both the stadium and bank accounts, which were previously frozen by a lower court.
Justice Lavu Nageshwara Rao, a former Supreme Court judge, and the Hyderabad Cricket Association administrator, has filed a civil revision petition with the Telangana HC to challenge the rulings issued by the Rangareddy District Court in LB Nagar. This legal action stems from a commercial executive petition filed by Visaka Industries, a company owned by BJP leader G. Vivekanand.
On September 22, the Rangareddy court issued an order to attach all of HCA’s properties and bank accounts. Visaka Industries claimed that they had received favorable decisions from an arbitral tribunal back in 2016.
These decisions mandated that HCA pay Rs 25.92 crore, along with 18 percent annual interest and costs, starting from the date of the award until full payment. These legal actions were taken in response to HCA’s alleged violation of a development agreement related to the construction of the Uppal stadium in 2004.
