BRS Working President, K. T. Rama Rao, urged the Telangana government to actively pursue bringing Tesla to the state, responding to reports of the company exploring sites in India for an electric car plant worth $2-3 billion. Emphasizing the state’s progressive industrial policies, Rama Rao encouraged Tesla to visit Hyderabad and consider the potential benefits of establishing operations there.
Tesla is said to be sending a delegation to India this month to scout locations for the proposed plant, following the Central government’s recent tariff adjustments aimed at incentivizing local production of high-end electric vehicles.
Previously, as Telangana’s Minister for Industry and Commerce in 2022, Rama Rao had extended an invitation to Tesla CEO Elon Musk to consider setting up operations in the state, highlighting Telangana’s commitment to sustainability and its reputation as a leading business destination in India.
