IRCTC has come up with a bumper for its passengers. As a part of the ‘Digital India’ initiative by PM Narendra Modi, the IRCTC has requested its passengers to link their IRCTC accounts with their Aadhar card. For users whose accounts are linked to their Aadhar card, they can avail 12 tickets per month, against the current limit of 6 tickets per month.
Adding to this, the IRCTC has released a notification, making some key changes to the guidelines to be followed at the time of online ticket booking:
- A user can book only 2 (reservation) tickets between 8:00 am to 10:00 am in the morning.
- Single Page and Quick Book services will be paused between 8:00 am to 12:00 noon
- Authorized agents can book the tickets from 8:00 am to 8:30 am, 10:00 am to 10:30 am, and 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
The latest move from the IRCTC restricts travel agents from booking Tatkal tickets for the first 30 minutes. This enables the commuters to book Tatkal tickets which usually finish within 3 to 4 minutes. IRCTC also increased the time limit for the OTP entering page by 10 seconds.
