A tragic incident unfolded in Ibrahimpatnam as a young woman, M Bhargavi (20), was found murdered at her residence on Monday evening. Bhargavi, a college student, lived with her family consisting of her mother Jangamma, father Malliah, and brother Charan in the village.
The unfortunate event stemmed from Bhargavi’s relationship with a local villager named Shashi, whom she intended to marry. However, her mother, Jangamma, vehemently opposed the union, repeatedly scolding Bhargavi for interacting with Shashi. Despite the family’s plans to arrange Bhargavi’s marriage to a relative, she remained steadfast in her desire to marry Shashi.
The situation escalated on Monday evening when Shashi visited Bhargavi at their home. Upon Jangamma’s return, witnessing the interaction between Shashi and her daughter, she flew into a rage and chastised Bhargavi. Matters took a tragic turn as Jangamma latched the door and allegedly strangled her daughter with a saree. Bhargavi’s brother Charan discovered her unconscious and rushed her to the hospital, where she was declared dead by doctors. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and a case has been registered by the authorities.
