Debina Bonnerjee on using social media influencer status to aid budding fashion labels

TV star Actress Debina Bonnerjee is also a social media influencer, and she uses her YouTube channel Debina Decodes to talk about beauty and lifestyle among other things. Lately, she has also taken the initiative to help homegrown and budding fashion labels reach out to a wider audience amidst the pandemic.

“I am a graduate in communication, and my specialization is in advertising and visualization. So, writing creative content and visuals is a part of my education. I never planned to become an actress but, yes, I was into modeling as a teenager. It is great the way my career panned out. But acting does not allow me to explore my skill in creative content, writing, visualization — everything that I learned in the classroom. I thought why not make people aware of what goes behind our glowing skin, good hair, and how living an organic lifestyle is important. Here, I am not selling a product but the idea of living a healthy life,” Debina told in an interview.

“With the global pandemic, we all know how living a healthy life is important. Also, I have an interest in such things. I read a lot of books, take online classes and when I feel I have ample knowledge to share, I do. These days, I am taking classes on facial yoga,” shared the actress.

Lately, Debina also has taken an initiative to help homegrown and budding fashion designers reach out to a wider audience.

“The idea is to bring the consumers and fashion designers together. There are new, budding, homegrown fashion brands that are struggling to reopen the business. When a business shuts down, it is not just the owner but many employees that go jobless. So, sustaining a business is important,” Debina said.

She continued: “On the other hand, there is a section of people who are sitting at home and killing their boredom doing online shopping. So, I thought of bringing them together by using my social media platforms. I can wear those dresses, do a photoshoot, and put it on my Instagram. I will not charge for it from any designer and I will return the dress, too. Usually, social media influencers charge money for that but I think this is the time I should support these designers, instead of earning money from it. Once normalcy surfaces, we will think about commercial interests.”

Lakshmi Manchu starts four-part series on dealing with kids during Covid

Actress Lakshmi Manchu has started a four-part series titled “Unlocking Positive Childhood Experience”. The series aims at providing solutions to parents on how to deal with children affected by the pandemic.

The series brings forth cases about mothers and children who have battled the virus. An episode will throw light on discussions with children around the subject, with the help of a therapist.

“There is a lot of information that is floating around but very little catering specifically to kids. As a mother, I had a lot of questions and concerns and I thought we should curate something during this pandemic to enlighten parents on how to take care of their kids on how to take care of their children if they after affected by Covid-19 in any way,” Lakshmi told in an interview.

The Telugu actress eventually narrowed down on four topics, which according to her will have a strong relatability quotient.

“It was very difficult to narrow down on how many episodes.narro but then I was thinking about what are the most commonly asked questions. ‘What if we get covid?’ Then we have mothers and kids who are covid survivors. There is a nutritionist from Hong Kong who will specifically cater to babies and toddlers, besides a therapist to understand what grieving is and how to talk to children and what are words to use. Then I thought it would be fun to have some yoga where mothers can partner with their children,” she said.

Lakshmi, who has her own YouTube channel, added: “My takeaway from this is that one needs to have patience and to know that our children are more resilient than we think they are. We should not rub our fears on to them.”

Actress Adah Sharma says she is learning to play the flute.

“I picked up the flute a few months back when the lockdown was relaxed and shooting started again. I love playing the piano but the flute I can carry in my bag, (and play) in the van between shoots,” she said.

Adah had mentioned her interest in the flute last year, too. In an Instagram video she posted in October 2020, Adah had captured a tune played by a flute player. She was trying to use her social media presence to help the musician who was struggling to make a living on empty streets during the lockdown, she had said back then, and she encouraged her followers to contact people like him, purchase flutes from him and learn the art from “Basuriwaale bhaiya”.

Shweta Tripathi on why shooting for her new web series was tough deal

Actress Shweta Tripathi has wrapped up shooting for the upcoming series “Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein” in Manali amidst the second wave of the Covid pandemic. She says the deadline for the particular shoot mattered more than what it normally does.

Talking about being among the first to wrap up an entire series in these times, Shweta says: “This wasn’t just any deadline. If not adhered to, it wasn’t like they’d lose out on the budget or face actors’ availability issues, which generally occur on shoots. This was an entirely new problem: No one on set knew how to deal with it properly besides following protocol.”

She added that everyone was learning things on the job, right from the spot boy to producer, and from actor to director.

Shweta said: “Since we knew that we had a time crunch, we took every possible measure to stay disciplined and efficient on set. The time crunch was so intense that if it was a day shoot, we had to ensure we completed the schedule before we lost sunlight.”

“The same was the case with night shoots. On the last day we were literally racing against the time of dawn to finish the shoot because after that day there was absolutely no scope of another day to spare,” Shweta said.

“Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein” also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin.
