Laxman, who continued working as Raam Laxman after the death of his partner Raam, passed away on Saturday. Sanu gets emotional remembering Laxman, or Vijay Patil while speaking to opened

“I have worked with Vijay Ji, known to the world as Raam Laxman, in films like Hum Saath-Saath Hain and Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and three to four others. Most of the songs we worked on together became hits.

“The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of him is his behavior. He was a jovial and soft-spoken person and always wore a smile on his face. His words were always sweet and I have never seen him lose his temper. He was a fantastic human being. His demise is definitely a huge loss for the industry. All we can do is pray so that his soul rests in peace.

“He would address me as Kumar ji. While teaching a song, he would always make it easy for the singer. If I ever said I found a part of a song difficult, he would encourage me saying, ‘give it a try, I am here, don’t worry and I am confident you can do this, tum GAA loge’. He was very popular among singers owing to his cordial behavior.

“He would always encourage singers and was very humble in his approach. I still remember the happy expression on his face after a recording was completed. Today, I feel extremely sad to think that he is no more. His contribution to the industry is huge! He has gifted such amazing songs and helped so many singers to grow.”

“Peekaboo,” she wrote as the caption.

Sunny is currently in Kerala shooting the upcoming psychological thriller film “Shero”. The film is directed by Sreejith Vijayan and is scheduled to be released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam.

Zareen Khan: Was told in our industry it’s a perception that pretty girls can’t act

Zareen Khan recalls being rejected from a film for looking the way she does. The Bollywood actress says she was bluntly told about the industry perception that pretty girls cannot act.

“It’s not just me who has been typecast. I feel every person in this industry gets typecast. When I came out with ‘Veer’ I was typecast as a pretty girl, a girl next door — just comparisons and everything. So, I did not get enough chances. (Actually) Did not get a chance at all after that. (I was called) Fat, and this and that,” Zareen told IANS.

She says her dance number “Character dheela” in the Salman Khan-starrer “Ready” somewhat helped in changing perceptions. “People were like, ‘she can look like that also. She has lost weight, nice’. Then came ‘Hate Story’ and people said she is so hot,” she recalled.

Still, Zareen was rejected when she tried looking for roles that would give her something meaningful to portray.

“After that when I tried meeting people for not so ‘hot’ roles or roles that would need me to play something meaningful or serious, I was rejected and I was out and out told in our industry it’s a perception that pretty girls can’t act,” she said.

“What the hell does that even mean? If you find me pretty and you are not going to give me a chance that is so unfair,” she added.

The 34-year-old took a break from all things related to being glamorous.

“I really want to make a conscious effort for people to see me as more than a glamorous face. I want them to see my potential, credit, give me due for my potential and give me a chance. More than anything else, to give me an opportunity to show that I am more than just about looking hot and being pretty,” she stressed.

“That is the reason I took a bit of break. I was reading a lot of scripts and I wanted to do something that would portray me away from the glamorous image. So, that people can change that image about me,” she concluded.

In her new release “Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele”, Zareen portrays a character she has never done in her career of over a decade. She plays a lesbian in the film, which released digitally a while back.

Elli AvRam: I’m glad seeing other foreigners doing well in Indian films

Actress Elli Avram, who is originally from Stockholm, Sweden, says with time more foreigners are being accepted in Bollywood and getting better roles.

The actress, who has been seen in films such as “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon”, “Mickey Virus” and “Malang”, says many people around the world “die” to be part of Bollywood.

“I’m so glad seeing other foreigners doing so well and getting so much love and appreciation in the Indian film industry. Bollywood is something so many people around the world live and die for, literally! I’m one of them,” she told.

The actress says she always wanted to be part of Bollywood. “I just fell in love with its cinema since my childhood and I always looked for that one foreigner actress who could inspire me and give me hope, since I dreamt so hard of working in Bollywood, despite not being Indian. And I’ll never forget when I watched ‘Love Aaj Kal’, and there was a Brazilian girl who played an Indian character (refers to Giselli Monteiro in the 2009 release). As I walked out of the cinema in Stockholm, I just said to myself, ‘if she can do it, then so can I’,” she says.

The actress says the film industry has changed a lot since she became part of it.

“From the day I entered Bollywood till now, things have opened up and changed quite a bit. I’ve got many offers where I sometimes have had to choose which one to do, due to dates clashing. When that happens, I feel a lot of gratitude because it tells me your hard work and talent pay off in the end,” she says.

“I’ve got something new I’m excited about, work-wise. Apart from that, I’m currently questioning a lot of things and working on my personal growth as a human being. I’m not scared about surviving in this industry, I’d say I’m more scared about how to survive as a free human being in this world,” she says.

Call off ‘The Family Man 2’ web series on Amazon Prime: Seeman

Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) Founder Seeman on Friday demanded calling off the Amazon Prime web series ‘The Family Man 2’ as it portrays Tamils as vicious and the Liberation Tiger for Tamil Eelam (LTTE) as terrorists.

In a statement issued here Seeman said that the trailer of the web series ‘The Family Man 2’ is shocking.

“The series seeks to intentionally portray the LTTE as terrorists and Tamils as vicious people. It is no coincidence that Chennai has been chosen as the location,” Seeman said.

According to him, the web series story revolves around an Eelam – in Sri Lanka- woman who is portrayed as a militant.

“The colour of her dress resembles that of an LTTE uniform, with dialogues referring to links between the militant group and the Pakistani ISI,” Seeman said.

“In a situation where 2 lakh Tamils in Eelam have been slaughtered by the tyranny of Sinhala chauvinism, the attempt to portray the Tamils as terrorists through a web series that stand as the greatest democrats and seeking justice in the international forums through moral and legal struggle is highly condemnable,” Seeman added.

According to him as soon as the trailer of the series, which was created to mislead Tamils, was released, Tamils all over the world have been registering their condemnation with great anger.

Urging the web series be banned, Seeman said that already, the films such as “Inam” and “Madras Cafe” that portray Tamils in a wrong manner were refrained from screening in theatres due to widespread opposition.

The NTK is the third largest party in terms of vote share after the recently concluded assembly polls in Tamil Nadu. The party had secured about seven per cent vote share.

Armaan Ralhan: Doing a film with Ranveer Singh gives my work more eyeballs

Actor Armaan Ralhaan made his acting debut in the Ranveer Singh-Vaani Kapoor starrer “Befikre” in 2016. Lately, he was seen in the OTT anthology “Ajeeb Daastaans”, in the segment featuring Jaideep Ahlawat and Fatima Sana Sheikh. Armaan says his focus right now is on building a filmography and not necessarily lead roles.

“I didn’t necessarily see it as a risk because as a new person I am not coming in with any kind of hype. The audience will not come and watch a film just because I am in it, because I have not earned their trust yet. So, as far as I am concerned, doing a film with people like Ranveer Singh — or Jaideep Ahlawat and Fatima Sana Shaikh — give my work more eyeballs,” Armaan told.

“So, I am focussed to keep growing and hopefully I will get to a stage where people come to watch a film because I am in it, but gradually I want to build it step by step and your work will be seen. I don’t know if you want to call that risk-taking but you can call it safe,” he added.

For Armaan, the criteria of featuring in films are different from other newcomers.

“As far as newcomers doing lead films is concerned, for me, it is important that I should be in something that I want to be a part of, and the idea is not just to do a lead film to do a lead film,” he told.

“The idea is to build a filmography and build a career that hopefully in the future stands the test of time. (A) Lead (role) is important to me and I hope to do that soon,” he said.

Narayani Shastri: I am not a method actor

Actress Narayani Shastri, who portrays Rajvee Rawal in the show “Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha”, says she has never been a method actor and loves to be spontaneous on screen.

“Rajvee Rawal is a confident, sorted, and strong person who wears her heart on her sleeve. She always shows her love for her sons. Her family is everything for her. As a person, she is very fair and has immense integrity. I am not a method actor. I do things spontaneously once I understand the personality of the character I play,” she told.

Actor Vijayendra Kumeria plays her son in the show.

“Vijayendra is so easy to work with. He is very professional, always prepared with his lines, and open to suggestions. He met me as Darsh, not Vijayendra, which made our chemistry the way it is,” she says.

Talking about her journey in the industry, the actress says that she has no complaints.

“I have had a beautiful journey, full of fun. I did everything that I wanted to do and have no regrets. The journey had its ups and downs but that is the fun. I feel blessed with all the opportunities,” she says.

The li’l champs of ZEE Keralam’s music reality show SaReGaMaPa Keralam Li’lChamps have come up with a birthday tribute to Mohanlal in the form of short videos compiling all-time hit songs of Lalettan’s films.
