Nithya Menen’s ‘Skylab’ pre-release event on Nov 28 with Nani

The makers of Nithya Menen and Satya Dev-starrer ‘Skylab’ have planned for a pre-release event on November 28 in Hyderabad, after unveiling a trailer from the movie.

Telugu star Nani has been invited to attend the pre-release event as a special guest.

Nani, who is busy working for his upcoming movie ‘Shyam Singha Roy’, apparently gave a nod to attend the event, as Nithya Menen and Nani share a special rapport.

The ‘Skylab’ team has also released a special edition of the poster, featuring Nani on a magazine cover. The poster is edited in such a way that it reminds us of the magazine covers during the early ’90s.

‘Skylab’ is releasing on December 4, and stars Nithya Menen, Satya Dev, Rahul Ramakrishna, Tanikella Bharani, and others as the central characters. Helmed by Vishvak Khanderao, the movie is billed to be a period drama dealing with the crash of an experimental lab built in space called ‘Skylab’.

World TT C’ships: Manika Batra reaches women’s and mixed doubles quarters

Ace Indian paddler Manika Batra reached the women’s and mixed doubles quarter-finals at the World Table Tennis Championships Finals 2021, here.

Batra and her mixed doubles partner G Sathiyan came from two games behind to beat China’s Wang Manyu and USA’s Kanak Jha 3-2 (15-17, 10-12, 12-10, 11-6, 11-7) in an exciting Round of 16 encounter on Friday.

They will now face Japan’s Hina Hayata and Tomokazu Harimoto, the world No 20 mixed doubles pair, in the last eight.

Meanwhile, in the women’s doubles, Manika and Archana Kamath outclassed Hungary’s Dora Madarasz and Georgina Pota 3-1 (11-4, 11-9, 6-11, 11-7) to set up a quarter-final clash against Sarah de Nuette and Xia Lian Ni of Luxembourg.

However, the other Indian mixed doubles pair of Sharath Kamal and Archana Kamath went down in the round of 16, losing to French pair Emmanuel Lebesson and Yuan Jia Nan 0-3 (4-11, 8-11, 5-11).

Makers plan to release second single from ‘Radhe Shyam’

With Prabhas and Pooja Hegde as the lead pair, the epic drama ‘Radhe Shyam’ is slated for worldwide release on January 14.

The makers who took the Internet by storm by releasing the first single from the movie, are all set to unveil the second single too. ‘Radhe Shyam’ team is currently working on digital promotions.

So, the second single, along with the lyrical video which is currently being edited, is to be revealed in the first week of December. Justin Prabhakaran is in charge of the music composition for ‘Radhe Shyam’.

With unique concepts like reincarnation or time travel on the cards, the movie has been the talk of the town ever since the makers released a teaser, hinting at the crux.

Helmed by Radha Krishna Kumar, ‘Radhe Shyam’ is currently in the post-production phase. An ensemble cast including Sachin Khedekar, Krishnam Raju, Priyadarshi, Bhagyashree, Murali Sharma, Kunaal Roy Kapur, and Sathyan will be seen playing key roles in the epic love story.

Ramya Krishnan to host ‘Bigg Boss Tamil 5’ in Kamal’s absence

Veteran actress Ramya Krishnan will host the fifth season of the popular television reality show ‘Bigg Boss Tamil’ until the time the show’s original host Kamal Haasan recovers from Covid and returns to take over.

Kamal Haasan, who tested positive for Covid-19, is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Chennai.

On Saturday, the makers of the reality show put out a promo that showed Kamal Haasan speaking from the hospital. The actor introduced actress Ramya Krishnan as a friend who had offered to help him conduct the show without a break.

Interestingly, the promo, in which Ramya Krishnan was introduced, had the music of ‘Baahubali’ as its background score. The south Indian actress is known across the country for her stellar role as Sivagaami in the blockbuster.

Soon after news broke out that Kamal had tested positive for Covid, there was widespread speculation on social media as to who would host the show in the actor’s absence. Rumour mills suggested that actress Shruthi Haasan had been approached by the makers of the show to host the weekend episodes in Kamal Haasan’s absence. There were also rumours that Ramya Krishnan and Vijay Sethupathi had been approached for the same purpose.

On Saturday, the speculation came to an end with the promo showing that it would be Ramya Krishnan who would be hosting it.

After Rajini, Sivakarthikeyan also congratulates ‘Maanaadu’ team

Actor Sivakarthikeyan on Saturday congratulated the entire team of director Venkat Prabhu’s ‘Maanaadu’, which released after facing a lot of issues.

Taking to Twitter, actor Sivakarthikeyan said, “Enjoyed ‘Maanaadu’ thoroughly. Entire team has given their best to make this racy entertainer.”

The actor then went on to congratulate director Venkat Prabhu saying, he had “nailed it” with his “neat exectution” and appreciated lead actor Simbu for a performance that was “super”.

The actor and producer was full of praise for actor S.J. Suryah, who he said had erupted.

He also tweeted, “Big congratulations to entire Maanaadu team. Very happy for you Kalyani Priyadarshan,” and went on to appreciate the other members of the cast and crew including the film’s editor K.L. Praveen, cinematographer Richard M. Nathan and its producer Suresh Kamatchi.

The actor added, “Let this success continue for our industry.”

Actress Kalyani Priyadarshan, who plays the female lead in the film, responded to the congratulatory message from Sivakarthikeyan with a tweet of her own.

She said, “So so happy you watched it and that too in theatres on opening weekend. Thanks for always being a positive support that genuinely encourages this industry to grow.”

It was only a few hours ago that megastar Rajinikanth had called up and congratulated producer Suresh Kamatchi, who managed to get his film released amid great difficulty.

Kamal Haasan recovering well: Hospital

Actor-turned-politician and Makkal Needhi Maiam President Kamal Haasan is recovering well after being infected by Covid-19 and admitted to a hospital, as per the hospital bulletin on Friday.

The superstar of South Indian cinema is recovering at an isolated unit of the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre in Chennai where he was admitted on November 22.

Kamal Haasan, who was in the US for the launch of his Khadi brand ‘House of Khadder’ tested Covid positive after he returned to India.

Announcing this in a tweet on November 22, he called upon people to be careful.

Telugu actor Pawan Kalyan, who is to appear in Krish’s highly-anticipated period action drama, ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu’, is prepping up for the upcoming shooting schedule.

The movie ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu’, which is being directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, is readying for an upcoming shooting schedule, as the movie team scouts for the locations in some parts of Rajasthan. Director Krish and the producer are currently in Delhi, visiting a few locations where the location manager has performed the photography sessions for the team’s approval.

Though the shooting for ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu’ was supposed to begin by the first week of December, there seems to be a delay, as Pawan Kalyan has not yet wrapped up his dubbing and other formalities of ‘Bheemla Nayak’ yet.

Hence, the makers of ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu’ have pushed the shooting to January, to wrap up some important sequences. As soon as the shoot resumes, Krish and his team are to work for the completion of the movie as soon as possible, the reports suggest.

Pawan will be shooting for a few intense fight sequences and songs in the upcoming schedule, for ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu’, in which he plays a warrior.

Starring Niddhi Agerwal in the female lead role, the epic movie also stars Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez in important roles.

On the other hand, Pawan’s ‘Bheemla Nayak’ is to be released in the theatres on January 12, 2022. Pawan’s co-star Rana Daggubati plays the baddie, while Nithya Menen and Samyukta Menon play important roles in the Sagar K Chandra directorial.

Actress Sonali Sudan, who was also seen in the movie ‘Jalebi’, will now be part of a web series ‘Just Married’. She will be featuring along with Shivam Sharma and Mayank Mishra. Sonali says she accepted this offer because of its storyline and her character in the show.

Sonali shares: “When this show came to me, I instantly said yes because the script was really entertaining. We loved shooting it as well. Watch the show to see how I react when I get to know that my brother and my boyfriend have a different chemistry all together. I’m playing the protagonist in the show whose name is Neha and she is a college going girl.”

According to her the show has all the elements that will be enjoyable to watch. “The show has a lot of comedy. People are going to enjoy it thoroughly.”

Mayank Mishra, who is playing the role of ‘Veeru’, adds about his shooting experience with co-actor Shivam Sharma. “Me and Shivam, who played my friend Jai in the show, met for the first time on set and became very good friends while shooting and that chemistry you will see in ‘Just Married’. ‘Never Kiss Your Best Friend’ lead pair shoots for second season

Nakuul Mehta, who plays the lead in the web series ‘Never Kiss Your Best Friend’, says he got excited about the project because it is a “slice-of-life story about friendship and growing up”.

Together with the female lead, Anya Singh, Nakuul is shooting in London for the second season of the series, which, like the first, will be streamed on ZEE5.

“In an era of action thrillers and complex dramas, the slice-of-life story about friendship and growing up got me excited about ‘Never Kiss Your Best Friend’ in the first place. We are back in London filming our new season,” Nakuul said.

Anya echoed her co-star’s sentiments when she said: “What started off as a slice-of-life show turned into an experience. I can never forget it not only because of the great memories, but also because of the love that people gave ‘Never Kiss Your Best Friend’. And it’s only because of that love that we are back two years later to create some more memories while reliving the nostalgia of Season One with my BFF Nakuul and a whole new family.”

Directed by Harsh Dedhia for 11:11 Productions, the eight-episode show will premiere on ZEE5 early next year.
