Vaani Kapoor: ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ required a body type I never had

Mumbai, March 17(Telugu Bullet) Actress Vaani Kapoor says she has always tried to be fit but her upcoming film “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui” pushed her to work harder.

“I have always tried to be fit but ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ is a film that has really pushed me to work harder and to my limits. To pull off my role, I put myself through a grind that wasn’t easy. It was what (director) Abhishek Kapoor saw me have on-screen and I dived headlong into the process of achieving this body type for the film,” Vaani said.

The actress claims the film is a huge milestone in her career.

“I wanted to give it all. It required me to achieve a body type that I never had before. Of course, I wanted to nail this role and took this challenge head-on. I needed to appear like a really fit girl. I literally exhausted myself training,” she said.

Vaani added: “After a difficult lockdown period and with almost no training, I had to spring back with rigorous workout sessions every day, but when I saw myself on the monitor, I felt it was all worth it”.

“Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui” is set to release on July 9.

Connie Nielson on working with Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix in ‘The Gladiator’

Danish actress Connie Nielsen, who played Lucilla in Ridley Scott’s 2000 blockbuster “Gladiator”, has fond memories of working in the Oscar-winning film with actors Joaquin Phoenix and Russell Crowe.

“The experience of working with such thrilling actors like Joaquin and Russell is something that just so enriches any scene. You just never know exactly what they’re going to do and that’s the best feeling,” said the 55-year-old actress in an interview with collider.com.

The film’s success made the cast popular across the globe but Nielsen insisted that wasn’t on their minds at the time of the shooting.

“I don’t think that any of us really understood — we could feel that it was something special, but I don’t think we understood just how privileged we were to be on there. We were so busy complaining about the four pages of new script changes that we got every morning, and we were just really working so hard to make that vision come alive, you know? And we were all super deeply invested in it,” she said.

“I don’t think that I was thinking in terms of career-making or anything like that. I didn’t have a mindset like that. It was all about the story. It was all about the story and how we were telling that story that mattered to us,” she added

Samantha’s Shakuntalam movie goes on floors

16 March, (Telugu Bullet) Samanta’s upcoming mythological movie titled Shakuntalam was formally launched on Monday morning with a pooja ceremony being held at Annapurna Studios. Director Gunasekhar, a successful filmmaker in dealing with mythological subjects in Telugu cinema, is directing Shakuntalam. Touted to be a pan-India movie, the movie is being presented by Dil Raju and produced by Gunasekhar’s daughter Neelima Guna under the banner Gunaa Team Works.

Southern star Samantha is playing the title role of Shakuntalam while Malayalam actor Dev Mohan will play the role of King Dushyant. Ace producer Allu Aravind gave the clap for the muhurat shot while producer Dil Raju switched on the camera.

“I’m happy to be associated with Dil Raju. And one can imagine the scale of the film and the making when producers like Dil Raju come forward rendering support. I’m happy to introduce my daughter Neelima who studied masters in Art and Visual Culture. It’s not easy to play the heroine-centric role like Shakuntala. There have been many cooked-up stories about the movie Shakuntalam and as to who would play the title role in the movie.

As I was thinking about who has the right sensibility to pull off the role, everyone suggested me to cast Samantha. She has been very selective about her roles. She assured us to give the required effort to bring out the Shakuntala in her. She has been involving in the script for the last four months and learning classical dance,” he added. Meanwhile, Samantha shared some pictures from the sets of the historical film on her Instagram post.
