Aakanksha Singh to play a cop in web series ‘Escaype Live’

Actress Aakanksha Singh is all set to play the role of a cop in the upcoming tech-thriller web series “Escaype Live”.

The actress has reportedly trained for three-four hours every day to get the right posture and body language for the role of a cop.

Sharing her experience, Aakanksha said: “I had to really take care of my fitness, as I had to shoot the action sequence just when I was on recovery post my fracture (during the shoot of ‘Mayday’). There was a lot of running and action, and indeed difficult one.”

“My action was designed by veteran action director Sham Kaushal sir. I used real guns to add authenticity to the portrayal. I had a great time and I’m grateful to have worked with him,” she further said.

Apart from the web series, the actress will also be seen in the upcoming Ajay Devgn directorial film “Mayday” where she will feature alongside Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, and Rakul Preet Singh.

Punjabi film ‘Fuffad Ji’ to hit theatres on November 11

The release date of upcoming Punjabi film ‘Fuffad Ji’ was announced on Tuesday. The film is all set to hit theatres on November 11 this year.

The makers announced the release date along with a new poster of the film. The period drama features Binnu Dhillon along with Gurnam Bhullar in the lead.

‘Fuffad Ji’ banks on a comedy of errors in an attempt to set up wholesome family entertainment. Shooting commenced in Punjab in June.

Written by Raju Verma and directed by Pankaj Batra, ‘Fuffad Ji’ also feature Sidhika Sharma and Jasmin Bajwa in pivotal roles.

The film is backed by Zee Studios and K Kumar Studios.

With the big screens opening up, the theatrical release date of several big ticket films have been announced in the past few days.

These include R Madhavan’s directorial debut ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’, Akshay Kumar-starrer big budget period drama ‘Prithviraj’, Kabir Khan’s ’83’ featuring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji-starrer ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’, Ayushmann Khurrana-Vaani Kapoor’s ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’, Shahid Kapoor-starrer ‘Jersey’ and Tiger Shroff’s ‘Heropanti 2’ among others.

Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria’s ‘Heropanti 2’ locks Eid 2022 release

Actors Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria-starrer ‘Heropanti 2’ will be released on Eid 2022. It will be released on April 29.

‘Heropanti 2’ was earlier scheduled to release on May 6, 2022. The movie will have a face off with the Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘May Day’ at the box-office on April 29, 2022.

Tiger took to Instagram to make the announcement. He also shared the first poster of the film.

“Happy to announce that our film #Heropanti2 will be releasing in theatres near you on Eid 2022! Agli Eid bitayenge aapke saath #sajidnadiadwala@khan_ahmedasas @tarasutaria @nawazuddin._siddiqui @arrahman @rajat__aroraa @wardakhannadiadwala @nadiadwalagrandson,” Tiger wrote as the caption.

Choreographer-director Ahmed Khan will helm the film. He has earlier directed Tiger Shroff in ‘Baaghi 2’ and ‘Baaghi 3’.

‘Heropanti’, released in 2014, marked the debut of Tiger and Kriti Sanon.

Sajid Nadiadwala, who produced the film, will also produce the sequel.

SRK, Deepika head to Mallorca to shoot a song for ‘Pathan’

Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are jetting off to Mallorca to shoot for a song for their upcoming movie ‘Pathan’.

“The aim is to make ‘Pathan’ a visual spectacle that no one has seen before and Siddharth Anand (director) and YRF is leaving no stone unturned to achieve this ambitious goal,” said a source.

“‘Pathan’ team heads to Spain where they will be shooting in a grand destination like Mallorca, Cadiz and Vejer De La Frontera.”

The source added that the team will be in Spain from October 10-31.

“No other Bollywood film has ever shot in these places so audiences, who haven’t been to these expensive and exquisite places, will see them for the first time. Visually these settings will add grandeur and lavishness to the film,” the source was quoted as saying.

Shah Rukh and Deepika will be presented in a never seen before manner in this song.

“When you have two of the biggest superstars of the country, you have to create a visual extravaganza like never before and the makers want to do justice to the pairing they have in ‘Pathan’. It will be a sensational shoot to say the least,” said the source.

‘Pathan’ also stars John Abraham. Other details about the movie are still under wraps.

Advertising body honours Anil Kapoor as Brand Endorser of the Year

Actor Anil Kapoor has been awarded the Brand Endorser of the Year award by the International Advertising Association (IAA) here recently.

Anil, who currently endorses 13 brands, was awarded at the IAA Leadership Summit.

Talking about the honour, Anil tells IANS: “It is humbling to receive the Brand Endorser of the Year Award by IAA. Nothing feels better than knowing brands trust you with their products and are ready to mount the campaign on your shoulder. For me, a brand endorsement is more of a responsibility than a job.”

International Advertising Association, with IAA Leadership Awards, honours Excellence in Marketing that has had a direct impact on a product or service in terms of overall growth for the brand and company every year.

Meanwhile, on the work front Anil will be seen in ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ with Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani. The actor also has ‘Animal’ with Ranbir Kapoor in the pipeline.

Shahid Kapoor all praise for Samantha Akkineni, wants to work with her

Actor Shahid Kapoor made an interesting revelation on Monday, where he praised actress Samantha Akkineni and said that he would like to work with her soon.

In a Twitter question and answer session with fans, a fan asked Shahid of his opinion on Samantha’s acting in web series ‘The Family Man 2’.

Shahid replied to that question and said: “Totally loved her on the show. Would love to work with her some time.”

Shahid has recently wraped up the shoot with directors Raj and DK, who were also the brains behind the popular crime thriller series ‘The Family Man 2’. He also announced the release date of his film ‘Jersey’ on Sunday. The film will release on December 31, 2021.

Rasika Dugal, Akshay Oberoi honoured at Iconic Achievers Awards

Actors Rasika Dugal and Akshay Oberoi have been honoured at the Iconic Achievers Awards this year.

While Rasika has bagged the award of the ‘Most Versatile Actor Of The Year’, Akshay won the honour of ‘The Most Enterprising Actor Of The Year’.

Talking about the same Rasika said: “I’m honoured to be recognised as the Most Versatile Actor at Iconic Achievers Award. Every new role is an experience and an experiment. It is very heartening when that is acknowledged and applauded. I’m grateful to the jury and the audience who have appreciated me in the different roles I have had an opportunity to take on.”

Madhavan’s ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ to hit screens on Apr 1 next year

The release date for R. Madhavan’s much-awaited directorial debut ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ was announced on Monday. The film will hit theatres on April 1, 2022.

The announcement was made through an official statement from the makers, which reads: “We are elated to inform you that the much-awaited ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ will be released worldwide in theatres on 1st April 2022. We have made this movie with a lot of love and dedication and are grateful for all the support that you have shown us so far. – Team Rocketry.”

The biographical drama showcases the journey of Indian scientist Nambi Narayanan, a former ISRO scientist and aerospace engineer who was caught in the throes of a spy scandal.

Madhavan will be playing the role of Nambi Narayanan in his directorial debut. He has also produced and written the film which has been shot in parts of India, Georgia, Russia, and France.

The film also features an ensemble cast comprising Simran, Rajit Kapur, Ravi Raghavendra, Misha Ghoshal, Gulshan Grover, Karthik Kumar and Dinesh Prabhakar, with special appearances by Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya.

‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ has been shot in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil and English, and will also be released in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

It’s housefull: Bollywood biggies queue up for theatrical releases

As soon as Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced that all cinema halls and drama theatres in the state will reopen from October 22, a slew of Bollywood filmmakers declared the release dates of their upcoming films.

The reopening comes after 18 months after the box-offices were shut in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic plus the series of lockdowns since March 2020.

Following the news, filmmakers, producers, distributors and cinema hall owners welcomed the decision and expressed their excitement online.

Speaking about the same, Gautam Dutta, CEO, PVR Limited told IANS: “It is heartening to see the locking of release dates by the producers of Big Ticket Bollywood movies starting this festive season and beyond in view of the recent Maharashtra government announcement for reopening of cinemas.”

He added that Hindi movies have a universal appeal in our country cutting across regions and geographies and hence crucial for the revival of the entire film exhibition industry.

“The multiplex industry thrives on a constant supply of content week on week and a clear horizon of the Hindi film pipeline will surely help to stabilize the film exhibition business”.

Alok Tandon, CEO – INOX Leisure Ltd, too welcomed the Government of Maharashtra’s decision to allow cinemas to reopen from October 22 and the announcements of release dates made by various production houses.

Talking to IANS Tandon added: “We now have both passion and content on our side to stage a remarkable comeback and entertain film lovers.”

“The emerging content line-up also augurs well for the financial health of the cinema exhibition sector, and should hasten the recovery process. We would like to assure all our guests about our safety protocol which would ensure a safe and hygienic movie watching experience.”

The second half of 2021 looks bright.

The first Bollywood big film, which is slated to hit the silver screen is Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Sooryavanshi’. It will be released on October 22.

The next film to see the light of day in the theatres is Yash Raj Film’s ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’. The Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji-starrer and family entertainer will hit theatres on November 19, 2021. Helmed by Varun V. Sharma, the film also features Siddhant Chaturvedi and debutante actress Sharvari.

The vigilante action film ‘Satyamev Jayate 2’, which will see action hero John Abraham in a double role is locked for November 26.

Ayushmann Khurrana-Vaani Kapoor’s progressive love story ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’, which is directed by Abhishek Kapoor, is scheduled to drop on December 10 this year.

Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala also made an official announcement of a slate of big ticket releases including ‘Tadap – An Incredible Love Story’ featuring Ahan Shetty and Tara Sutaria on December 3.

Kabir Khan’s ’83’ featuring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone is out on Christmas 2021.

Upon the reopening of the theatres in Maharashtra, Nadiadwala “welcomed” Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s “historic decision”.

He added: “I am really happy for the cinema hall and multiplex owners since this decision will boost their revival. With big festivals around the corner, there couldn’t be better time to start than Diwali.”

Allu Arjun’s Telugu film ‘Pushpa’, which revolves around the red sanders heist in the hills of Andhra Pradesh, too will release in December. The film will be clashing with Ranveer’s ’83’ on Christmas.

Actor Shahid Kapoor on Sunday announced the release date of his much awaited film ‘Jersey’. The film will be released in theatres on December 31. It is the official Hindi remake of National Award-winning Telugu film by the same name. The original film starred actor Nani.

Makers are optimistic as they have even released a slate for 2022 releases.

Prabhas and Pooja Hegde’s romantic film ‘Radhe Shyam’ is slated to release on January 14.

The release date for Akshay Kumar-starrer big budget period drama film ‘Prithviraj’ has been announced as January 21.

Superstar Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chadha’, which is an official Hindi remake of Hollywood film ‘Forrest Gump’ will release on Valentine’s Day next year.

Ranveer’s ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ is slated to hit theatres on February 25. It narrates the journey of a Gujarati man, who becomes an unlikely hero.

‘Bachchan Pandey’ starring Akshay, Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez is on March 4. ‘Shamshera’ starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor will release on March 18.

The second instalment of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, starring Kartk Aaryan will release on March 25.

‘KGF 2’, ‘May Day’ and Tiger Shroff’s ‘Heropanti 2’ will hit the screens on April 14, April 29 and May 6, respectively.

Aanand L. Rai’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and ‘Vikram Vedha’ remake will be released on August 11 and September 30.

Akshay’s ‘Ram Setu’ will be lighting up the screens on Diwali 2022 and closing the year 2022 will be actor Tiger Shroff’s high octane actioner ‘Ganapath’ on December 23.

Ayushmann-starrer ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ to release on Dec 10

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana’s upcoming film ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ is all set to hit the big screens on December 10.

Ayushmann posted two pictures on Instagram. In one image, he is seen holding a clapboard and flaunting his washboard abs. The second picture has his co-star Vaani Kapoor and director Abhishek Kapoor posing for the camera with him.

“Body dekh lo, Shakal baad mein dikhaayenge. Theatre khul gaye hain, dilon pe phir se chaa jaayenge (See the body, will show face later. Theatres are reopening, we will takeover the hearts once again.) #ChandigarhKareAashiqui, releasing on 10th December, 2021,” Ayushmann wrote as the caption.

Ayushmann will be seen playing a cross-functional athlete in the film directed by Kapoor. It is pitched as a progressive love story and is set in north India
