Modi coins new slogan, says UP+Yogi, ‘bahut hai upyogi’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday coined a new slogan “UP plus Yogi — bahut hai upyogi — U.P.Y.O.G.I.” (Uttar Pradesh plus Yogi Adityanath is very useful), ahead of the 2022 Assembly polls in the hindi heartland.

Laying the foundation stone for the state’s longest 594 km long Ganga Expressway by pressing remote, the Prime Minister said when the whole of UP grows together, the country also progresses.

The Expressway will pass through Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.

Focus of the double engine government is the development of the state, he asserted.

“With the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas, we are making sincere efforts for the development of UP,” he added.

A 3.5 km long air strip for assisting emergency take off and landing of Air Force planes will also be constructed on the Expressway in Shahjahanpur. An industrial corridor is also proposed to be built along the Expressway.

The Expressway will also give a fillip to multiple sectors including industrial development, trade, agriculture, tourism etc. It will provide a big boost to the socio-economic development of the region.

Attacking the opposition parties, Modi said few parties have problem with work at the heritage sites and development of the country.

“These people have a problem with the construction of a grand dham of Baba Vishwanath in Kashi, construction of a grand temple of Lord Ram in Ayodhya, cleanliness campaign of Ganga ji. These people questioned the Army’s action against the terrorists and vaccine against the coronavirus made by Indian scientists,” the Prime Minister said.

He recalled the abysmal law and order situation in the state during previous governments and said that it has changed for the better in recent times.

“Today, when bulldozer is used against assets of mafia, their masters feel the pain,” Modi said.

The same sentiment is reflected in our agriculture policy and Under PM Samman Nidhi, money is directly transferred to accounts of small farmers.

Earlier, during medical emergency at night, people of Shahjahanpur and Hardoi had to rush to Lucknow, Kanpur and Delhi. It did not have medical facility and road, but today, it has medical college and better road connectivity.

Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to revolutionaries of the Kakori incident — Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ullah Khan and Roshan Singh. He also paid homage to Damodar Swaroop ‘Vidrohi’, Raj Bahadur Vikal and Agnivesh Shukla, poets of freedom struggle.

Remembering the bravehearts, Modi said: “Tomorrow is the Martyrdom Day of Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Thakur Roshan Singh. These three sons of Shahjahanpur, who challenged British rule, were hanged on December 19. We owe a huge debt to such heroes who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country.”

Sri Ganesh’s ‘Kuruthi Aattam’ release postponed again

The release of director Sri Ganesh’s much-waited Tamil film ‘Kuruthi Aattam’ has been postponed yet again.

The film, which features actors Atharvaa Murali and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the lead, was supposed to hit screens on December 24 for Christmas. However, director Sri Ganesh has now announced that the film’s release had been postponed.

Taking to Twitter, Sri Ganesh tweeted, “Kuruthi Aattam release postponed from December 24. We will announce the new release date soon. Big or Small – I owe a sorry to the audience who have been supporting & expecting our film.

“Waiting to show the film as soon as possible. We will announce the new release date soon,” he said.

The reason why the film has raised expectations is because of the director’s previous film ‘8 Thottakkal’, that came in for much appreciation, both from the masses and the critics.

‘Kuruthi Aattam’, work on which began in 2018, has been delayed by one factor or the other. It was after a long wait that the team had managed to finalise the film’s release for December 24. However, unfortunately, the release has again been postponed.

S.S. Rajamouli: Conflict in ‘RRR’ is not between heroes and villains but the heroes themselves

Ace director S.S. Rajamouli needs no introduction. With an outstanding ability to translate exactly on screen what he envisages in his powerful and brilliant mind, Rajamouli is easily one of the best in India when it comes to story telling.

However, despite his towering achievements, master filmmaker Rajamouli comes across as a very humble, simple filmmaker.

Rajamouli’s films generate so much of interest in audiences primarily because of the manner in which he builds and showcases the conflict between his heroes and villains. Point this out to Rajamouli and the man nods his head in agreement with a smile.

In ‘RRR’, his upcoming film featuring Ramcharan, Jr NTR and Alia Bhatt in the lead, everybody knows there are two powerful heroes on the one hand. What people do not know much about are the villains of his film. Whom will the heroes of ‘RRR’ be taking on and how is the conflict in this film going to be different and as intense if not better than his previous films?

Says Rajamouli, “Let me tell you that here, in ‘RRR’, the conflict is between the heroes themselves. So, the heroes themselves are the heroes and the heroes themselves are the villains. The conflict is between them, not with the villain. I always knew that a conflict between two good people is much more stronger and emotional than the conflict between a good guy and a bad guy.

“Actually, there is not much conflict between a good guy and a bad guy. They are very clear about it. But when there is a conflict between two good people and the audience does not know which side to take, then the real conflict arises.

“I have been waiting for a long time to explore that conflict. I have touched upon this conflict in smaller parts in other films. For instance, in ‘Baahubali’, I have this conflict between Sivagami and Baahubali but that is for a small time. In ‘RRR’ I showcase that conflict and I am pretty excited about it.”

Ask him about the experience of working with foreign actors in his film and Rajamouli says, “As we showcase the pre-Independence era, we had characters playing British people. The three main foreign actors in the film are Alison Doody, Ray Stevenson and Olivia Morris. It took us some time to actually find these actors.

“Initially, I did not know how to approach foreign actors. We were sending out details of who we were, what we were doing but were not getting the right contacts. We were quite frustrated about it. One day I asked Shekhar Kapur sir. I told him that I was having trouble casting good actors. He said that my approach wasn’t right. ‘You have to approach agents and the agencies will have contacts with good actors,’ he said and gave me the contact of a good agency.

“Then, we started getting good actors. Ray Stevenson was one of the initial actors we got from the agency. We immediately loved him. Initially, I was a little apprehensive of casting Ray because he was too handsome. But finally, I settled for Ray. Likewise for Olivia and Alison Doody.

“I am used to making films in a certain way for 20 years and I was wondering if there was a different way. They realised it and said, ‘We are actors. We work with different directors who have different kind of approaches. You tell us how it is comfortable for you and we will follow it. I directed them just like I directed our Indian actors. The only thing was that they would ask for their lines a bit earlier and I have the habit of changing the lines in the last minute. That was little bit difficult in the beginning but later on, they also got used to it.”

Audiences in theatres celebrate Samantha’s ‘Pushpa’ item number

With ‘Pushpa’ opening to terrific box-office collections, the reports claim otherwise. Marked as a good entertainer with a few loopholes, ‘Pushpa’ has caught up with mixed reviews.

Along with Allu Arjun’s splendid performance, actress Samantha is being lauded for her bold, blingy special number in the movie ‘Pushpa’.

Visuals from theatres show the masses boogie for Samantha’s fizzy item song in ‘Pushpa’. Samantha and Allu Arjun dance to the beats, while the viewers are spotted throwing confetti and hurling papers at the screen.

As the song is sequenced in towards the end of the first half of ‘Pushpa’, the audience is seen going gaga over the item song.

The ostentatious set and the whole setup give much appeal to the mass song, for which the music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad, and the dance is composed by Ganesh Acharya.

Being it Samantha’s first special song, the song ‘Oo Antava Maava Ooo Antava Maava’ has been hyped so much.

Samantha’s unlimited following remains one of the factors for such hype around the song, despite it sounding like any other common item song.

Samantha is unquestionably in her sexiest avatar to date due to the fact that she has exposed her mass side without any inhibitions.

Samantha, on the other hand, is to appear in two multilingual movies, apart from ‘Shaakunthalam’, which is wrapped up already.

Ankur Rathee on kissing Akshay Oberoi in ‘Inside Edge’: Had never kissed another man before

Actor Ankur Rathee, who plays the role of Allen Menezes, a gay rights lawyer and activist in love with a cricketer who is afraid of coming out in the ‘Inside Edge’, has spoken about locking lips with actor Akshay Oberoi in the series.

“It’s first important to note that being gay doesn’t necessitate a particular characterisation. There is as much diversity of mannerism and personality in gay men as there is in straight men. One’s sexual or gender orientation doesn’t define them and isn’t something they always wear on their sleeve.”

Ankur added: “That being said, as opposed to my role in ‘Made in Heaven’, Allen from ‘Inside Edge’ read as more flamboyant to me on the page. I decided to lean into the writing and experiment with a more effeminate demeanour. I paid attention to the way he carries his wrists when he’s trying to make a point, how he sits into his right hip when he stands, or fluctuates his tone and pitch when he’s trying to convince his boyfriend of something.

“However, I can’t stress enough that these are all secondary to the truth of the scene and the humanity of this character, a man torn between loving his partner unconditionally and maintaining his self-respect.”

The actor also shares a kissing scene with co-star Akshay, who happens to be a great friend off screen as well.

Ankur said: “To be honest, the artist in me was excited to have this new experience. I had never kissed another man before and I had so many questions! What would his beard feel like? Will my hands gravitate to his waist or around his neck? What’s it like to be held intimately by someone muscular? I’ve never made out with anyone that tall before! When we finally kissed, I knew none of these questions would matter of course.

“As Allen, I wasn’t kissing a ‘man’, I was kissing the love of my life. That’s all you’re thinking about in the scene, and the physicality is simply a natural product of your emotional connection. So no, it wasn’t ‘difficult’, because love is love is love, no matter your sexual orientation.”

Ankur is currently busy shooting for “Shehzada” with Kartik Aryan and Kriti Sanon, directed by Rohit Dhawan.

Siri, Sunny’s never-ending fights upset ‘Bigg Boss Telugu 5’ viewers

As the makers set the stage for the grand finale of ‘Bigg Boss Telugu 5’, top-5 contenders seem to be bored of staying still in the house.

They were all seen passing time playing hide and seek, rock-paper-scissors, and other silly games in ‘Bigg Boss’ house.

The makers who wanted to keep the contenders involved had asked the contestants to play the games so as to recall their previous tasks on the show.

In order to recall their memories, the contestants had participated in the tasks, which were supposed to be played in a fun way.

Shanmukh Jaswanth, who cheated in one of the games, had won the most number of games. During one of the games, VJ Sunny and Siri started fighting over petty issues.

Though Sunny apologised, Siri was not in a mood to mingle with him, as she is seen skipping the meal too.

Sunny and Siri, who gave a tough fight to the other contestants on the show, are seen fighting for small-big reasons. Even by the end of the show, the duo has irked the audience with their meaningless quarrels.

“The season is over. Siri and Sunny will remain enemies all their life”, one comment reads, while the other says, “Keeping right or wrong aside, Sunny and Siri must realize this is the best time in their journey.”

VJ Sunny, Manas, Sreerama Chandra, Sunny, and Siri are the finalists, who are in the race to win the ‘Bigg Boss Telugu 5’ title.

Denzel Washington looking for new challenges

Oscar-winning actors Denzel Washington would need an “extreme challenge” to be interested in a new acting project.

Speaking at the premiere of his new movie ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’, Washington said: “I’m about the challenges. At this point, like the character, I’m in the yellow leaf of my career. To be quite honest, looking to do other things. So as far as acting, it’s gonna have to be an extreme challenge for me to be interested.

“I’ve been talking to one or two of the top directors in the business, and we’re talking about maybe doing something. There’s not that much left for me to do as actor. Maybe Lear.”

In the adaptation of the Shakespearan story, Washington plays the titular power-hungry character and hailed working on the movie “a great ride”, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

He added to ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “It was just a great ride with a group of talented, talented young and older actors led by a brilliant, brilliant director.”

The movie comes out on Christmas Day, the same day as Washington’s new directorial effort ‘A Journal for Jordan’ – which stars Michael B. Jordan – and he admitted the “tear-jerker” is very different to ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’.

He said: “It’s just a beautiful love story and a touching…what’s the word. I don’t want to say sappy, but it’s a real tear-jerker. A little bit different than Macbeth, so I got ’em on both sides.”

Allu Arjun to watch ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ with fans at Hyderabad theatre

Tollywood’s most awaited movie ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ is out in theatres and according to initial reports, the Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer helmed by Sukumar has had a good initial response at the box-office.

It is reported that Allu Arjun, also known as the ‘Icon Star’, has decided to watch ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ along with his fans at a special screening in Hyderabad’s famous theatre, Sandhya 70MM.

Allu Arjun will be joined by his co-star Rashmika Mandanna and director Sukumar. Initial responses to the performances in ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ have been positive, though the slow pace of the second half of the movie has not gone down well with critics.

The narrative of the movie, which is being released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi, centres around red sandalwood smuggling.

Malayalam star Fahadh Fassil, Sunil, Ajay Gosh and Anasuya Bharadwaj are the other principal actors in the film. Multi-award-winner songwriter-composer Devi Sri Prasad has scored the music.
