Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Ruslan Sirota collaborate with Kshitij Tarey for album ‘Classical Crossover’

Grammy Awards winners Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and Ruslan Sirota have collaborated with singer Kshitij Tarey for an international album titled ‘Classical Crossover’. The album is a fusion music project with an amalgamation of different genres of music and will be releasing one track every month starting in March.

The first song ‘More Ghar Aye- Classical Funk’ has hit the airwaves. ‘More Ghar Aye- Classical Funk’ features a collaboration between Kshitij and international bassist Camille Frillex. The USP of the album is the meeting of two completely different genres of Indian and Western music that come together to create a beautiful musical piece.

The track is a fusion of Indian Classical singing along with Funk and it captures the true essence of the album.

Commenting on ‘Classical Crossover’ and its first track, Kshitij said, “‘Classical Crossover’ is a dream project for me. I have admired the work of these Grammy award-winning musicians for a long time, and getting to collaborate with such legends on this album was an absolute honor. The first song is in the classical Bandish format and it’s the very peppy and upbeat track. Camille Frillex from Paris features in the video and has also played the bass guitar for the same. The music video of the same is directed by Vikrant Kirar.”

The album includes genres such as Classical, Jazz, Funk, Thumri, and EDM.

Commenting on her collaboration with Kshitij, Camille Frillex said, “I loved the composition, the harmony, the groove, everything was matching perfectly with my musical tastes and influences. His music inspired me a lot. ‘More Ghar Aye’ is a mix of different cultures, its aesthetic is like a journey into Afro-American beats with an Indian touch. It is dynamic, full of color and energy.”

‘More Ghar Aye- Classical Funk’ is available to stream on Kshitij Tarey’s official Youtube channel and other leading platforms under the label Strumm Music.

Anushka Sharma has a funny reaction on being called ‘Mrs Kohli’

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, who was seen attending an event here, had a hilarious reaction when she was referred to as ‘Mrs. Kohli’ by the paparazzi.

A video shared by a celebrity paparazzi shows Anushka looking stunning in a black dress. As soon as she stepped on the red carpet, the photographers started referring to her as ‘Mrs. Kohli’ and kept screaming for her to look at the camera.

Hearing this, Anushka laughed and was heard saying: “Relax! Why are you all shouting? Wait! Mere kaan… I have not recovered from the shouting from yesterday.”

The photographers said that they missed her clicking her at events, and she replied ‘mere kaan bajj rahe hai.”

Recently, Anushka and her cricketer husband Virat Kohli decided to merge their respective foundations – Anushka Sharma Foundation and Virat Kohli Foundation – to launch a joint non-profit initiative aimed at helping those in need.

Anushka will next be seen in ‘Chakda Xpress’. The Netflix film, which is based on the life and times of one of the fastest female pacers in the history of world cricket, Jhulan, will showcase how the pacer moves up the ladder despite countless hindrances to fulfil her only dream — to play cricket.

Jhulan went on to captain the Indian women’s national cricket team and is a role model for aspiring cricketers in the country. In 2018, an Indian postage stamp was issued in her honor. Jhulan holds the world record for the highest number of wickets taken by a woman in an international career.

‘Teri Mitti’ composer Arko collabs with Kumar Sanu’s son, Jaan Kumar Sanu for ‘Sutta’

Doctor-turned-music composer Arko Pravo Mukherjee, who is known for songs like ‘Nazam Nazam’, ‘Teri Mitti’ ‘Dariya’ (‘Baar Baar Dekho’) and others, is collaborating with Jaan Kumar Sanu, the son of veteran playback singer Kumar Sanu for a new single titled ‘Sutta’.

The track is an RnB single and will also feature debutante artist Ravleen. The poster of the song was unveiled on Friday. Expressing his excitement on the same, Arko said: “I am very thankful to the audience for being so kind to me since my debut in ‘Jism 2’. Most of my films, maximum of my songs, the audience has given so much love, from ‘Jism 2’, ‘Yaariyan’, ‘Teri Mitti’, ‘O Desh Mere’ and now ‘Kora Sa Chehra’, and most of it is soulful music.”

He further mentioned: “So, my fans, well-wishers, and the audience have associated me with soulful, romantic, emotional, and patriotic music. But in this case, we are having fun, we are taking a departure, and this is out of my comfort zone. This is a new kind of RnB sound, a new vibe altogether, and it’s witty with a message, but in a totally fun way. So I hope today’s youth who are so aware as they have everything in their phone, in a click of a button, I hope this connects with them.”

Taking to Instagram, Arko treated fans to the poster of ‘Sutta’, featuring him, Jaan, and Riya Roy. In the poster, Arko is dressed in a black T-shirt topped with a white fur coat. Jaan Sanu can be seen in brown attire. ‘Sutta’ is set to release on March 28.

Pragya Jaiswal explores landscapes of Finland, calls it a ‘magical experience’

Actress Pragya Jaiswal, who has worked in several Telugu and Hindi films, recently took some time off from her busy schedule and embarked on a vacation to Finland. The actress explored the beautiful landscapes of the Scandinavian country and shared her experience.

Pragya said: “Travelling to Finland was the most magical experience I ever had. Initially, I was a little scared because I have never been to any place which was this cold, and what I had heard about Finland was that the temperature goes down to -25/-30 degrees celsius which was a little scary. I am so glad when we actually went there we got really comfortable with the weather and after the initial few days we started enjoying the cold.”

Pragya has all the fun over there and she enjoyed every bit of this journey by visiting different places and engaging herself in fun activities. “We ended up doing a lot of really fun activities like husky riding, skiing, etc which were highly adventurous. The views were spectacular, it was truly a winter wonderland. We also went on a really steep trek where we saw a frozen waterfall and canyon. The challenge was to walk down all the way into the snow while it was snowing and again walk back up. We also rode snowmobiles which was a great adrenaline rush,” she added.

She shared further about a snow hotel where everything was made out of snow, there was an ice bar and even a restaurant made out of snow. There was a church which was also made with snow and so many bedrooms with unique architecture.”I went to a sauna which was super hot and I came out to a frozen lake. They dig a hole in the frozen lake and you can dip in the ice water which is known as ice swimming. It’s a good activity which is really helpful to heal your body,” she added.

Lastly, she recounted seeing the Northern lights and said: “The cherry on the cake and my favorite part of the trip were the northern lights which we got to witness for two nights consecutively. We were so lucky that we went at such a great time that the Northern lights were in full form. There were so many colors dancing for us on both nights. It was such a beautiful experience that left me emotional and extremely fulfilled. It was such a magical time in Finland. I’ve come back rejuvenated. I am also glad we faced all the challenges boldly and made an amazing experience out of it.”

Tamil film star ‘Thala’ AjithKumar’s father passes away at 85

Tamil movie star Ajith Kumar’s father, P.S. Mani passed away on Friday morning. He was 85.

According to a statement issued by his sons, including Ajith Kumar, P.S. Mani departed in his sleep following a long illness. The news was shared on social media by Ajith Kumar’s manager.

P.S. Mani leaves behind his wife Mohini and three sons, Anup Kumar, Ajith Kumar, and Anil Kumar.

Stating that the last rites will be a family affair, his sons requested their well-wishers to respect their wishes ‘to grieve privately and deal with their father’s death with as much equanimity and dignity as possible.”

Taking to social media, actor Sarath Kumar expressed his condolences to Ajith’s family.

B’wood fraternity bereaved at the passing of ‘full of life’ Pradeep Sarkar

Director Pradeep Sarkar, who is known for films like ‘Parineeta’, ‘Mardaani’, the web series ‘Duranga’ and others, passed away at a Mumbai hospital at the age of 67.

He was on dialysis and his potassium levels had dropped drastically. As his condition deteriorated, he was rushed to the hospital at 3:00 a.m. on March 24 and passed away at 3.30 a.m.

Funeral arrangements have been made at a crematorium in Santacruz for 4 p.m. on Friday.

Several members of the film fraternity expressed their grief and shared condolences.

Taking to Twitter, actor Ajay Devgn wrote: “The news of Pradeep Sarkar’s demise, ‘Dada’ to some of us is still hard to digest. My deepest condolences (flower bouquet). My prayers are with the departed and his family. RIP Dada.”

‘The Kashmir Files’ director Vivek Agnihotri shared a statement on Twitter. It read: “It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that Pradeep has departed for his heavenly abode. Please join us at 4 p.m. for his funeral at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium to say goodbye to him.”

Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, who worked with the director in ‘Lafangey Parindey’, shared pictures with Pradeep on Twitter. He said, “DADA!!! Why??? I’ll miss you dada. Will always remember you as that child-hearted, full-of-life man who taught me so much. Your creation ‘Lafangey Parindey’ will always remain close to my heart. My prayers with the family.”

Actor Tahir Raj Bhasin, who played the antagonist in Pradeep Sarkar’s ‘Mardaani’, said in a statement: ‘Woke up to the extremely sad news of passing away of Pradeep Dada. I will always remember him with eternal gratitude as the man who trusted me with Mardaani. He was a maestro whose experience and guidance gave me the confidence to act to my fullest potential in my debut film. He mentored and then gave me space to create a part and in this trust lay his genius. I remember being extremely nervous on day one of the shoots.”

He further mentioned: “It was a production heavy day, we were holding up traffic and there were 100 junior artists on set. An intimidating environment for a first-timer. After my first take, I waited with bated breath as he watched the monitor. After what seemed like an eternity, he yelled out for the entire set to hear, “that was great!”. Just that validation from your first director still rings in my ears when I walk onto a set to this day. He was a visionary par excellence, ahead of his time. He lives on in the films he created. May he rest in peace.”

‘The Lunchbox’ actress Nimrat Kaur also shared a picture of Pradeep and tweeted: “Had the great pleasure of being on his set a few times in my modeling days. His hearty laughter and relentless perfectionism will forever be etched in my heart. My deepest condolences to his loved ones. Rest on Dada, the heavens above are a happier place. #RIPPradeepSarkar.”

Bollywood director Pradeep Sarkar, who made ‘Parineeta’, ‘Mardaani’, dies at 67

National Award winner and veteran filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar, noted for making sensitive and powerful films like ‘Parineeta’ and ‘Mardaani’, passed away here after a prolonged illness, early on Friday morning, family sources said.

He was 67 and his funeral rites shall be performed at the Santacruz Crematorium this afternoon at 4 p.m.

According to his friends and associates, he was rushed to a hospital last night for kidney and related ailments, but failed to survive and breathed his last early this morning.

Prominent Bollywood biggies like Ajay Devgn, Manoj Bajpayee, Ashoke Pandit, Nitu Chandra-Srivastava, Hansal Mehta, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and others mourned and paid tributes to Sarkar as the news broke out.

Starting his entertainment career with commercials and music videos in the early 1900s, Sarkar debuted as a director with ‘Parineeta’ (2005) starring Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan, and Vidya Balan.

Over the years, he made other films like ‘Laaga Chunari Me Daag’ (2007), ‘Lafangey Pandey’ (2010), ‘Mardaani’ (2014), ‘Helicopter Eela’ (2016), and co-edited the superhit Vidhu Vinod Chopra film ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ (2003).

Since 2019, Sarkar has also directed web series like ‘Cold Lassi Aur Chicken Masala’, ‘Arranged Marriage’, ‘Forbidden Love’, ‘Durango’.a
