Urfi Javed of ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ fame comes out in support of ‘poor kid’ Aryan Khan

Urfi Javed of ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ fame has joined the clan of Bollywood actors and others who are supporting Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan. Aryan found himself in a soup after the NCB took him into custody as he was said to have attended a cruise party where drugs were being consumed.

Aryan is presently in custody and the case is being investigated.

Urfi says: “He’ll probably take a lot of time to come out of this trauma. Even before the court’s verdict people have started bashing him just because he is his father’s son. Why don’t we show equal outrage for rapes and murders? We are so quick in shaming actors even before the court’s verdict. Why aren’t we as quick when it comes to shaming rapists?”

Urfi who is known for creating headlines for her airport looks and shows like ‘Bade Bhaiyya Ki Dulhania’, ‘Meri Durga’ and ‘Bepannaah’, shares her perspective on the same adding: “There are political leaders, religious gurus out there facing allegations of rape, still people worship them. And then there is this poor kid who hasn’t harmed anyone but is being publicly bashed so much.”

Tollywood trade body splits as pro-Prakash Raj camp walks out

In a new twist to the bitter row over the just-concluded elections to the influential Tollywood trade body, Movie Artists Association (MAA), all 11 newly-elected office-bearers and executive committee members from the Prakash Raj panel announced their resignation on Tuesday.

Stating that they do not want to be a hurdle in the decisions of the new MAA president, actor-producer Manchu Vishnu, and his panel over the next two years when they will be in office, the dissenters parted ways with the association.

Newly-elected Executive Vice President Srikanth, Vice President Benarjee, Joint Secretary Uttej and eight executive members announced their resignations at a news conference in the presence of Prakash Raj, Jeevitha Rajasekhar and others.

Prakash Raj, the acclaimed character actor who made his displeasure with the elections known to all, said his supporters had quit because in the past two years, no work could take place in the association because the two rival factions were constantly at loggerheads.

“Vishnu has made big promises, so we felt our presence may be cited as an excuse for not fulfilling them. Hence, we have decided that we should not be a hurdle in the way of their decisions,” Prakash Raj said.

He added that they had reached this decision after detailed discussions and deliberations over whether they could work “in this kind of an atmosphere” in the MAA.

“It is a dignified decision,” Prakash Raj said. “Please run the show, but if there are shortcomings, we will question you on behalf of all those who voted for us,” he added.

Referring to Vishnu’s statement that he would not accept the resignation, Prakash Raj said he was ready to take back his decision if Vishnu assured him that he would not amend the bye-laws of MAA to prevent non-Telugu members from contesting the elections in future.

Prakash Raj alleged that there was “rowdyism” in the election and there was cross-voting and irregularities in counting. He also said outsiders from various places were brought in on the polling day and seniors such as Benarjee were manhandled and abused.

He pointed out that on the first day counting was taken up for 4-5 hours and it was said that the results would be declared the next morning, but it took the entire day for that to happen.

Benarjee broke down while narrating how was he was humiliated during the polling. He said Vishnu’s father and veteran actor, Mohan Babu, used abusive words against him and even tried to manhandle him. He said when Mohan Babu was shouting at Tanish, he came to the latter’s rescue, making Mohan Babu lose his temper and use abusive language.

In Sunday’s elections, Vishnu was elected MAA President defeating Prakash Raj by 109 votes. The Vishnu panel won the key posts of General Secretary, Treasurer, one Vice President and one Joint Secretary. In the elections held for the 18 Executive Committee members, the Vishnu panel bagged 10 seats, whereas the opposing camp won the remaining eight.

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s brother Naga Babu had also announced his resignation late on Monday. He said he was pained to see regionalism and intolerance rocking the apex body of Tollywood.

Trailer out for Tamil time-loop sci-fi movie ‘Jango’

The trailer of Tamil film ‘Jango’, billed as India’s first “time-loop sci-fi movie”, was released on Tuesday, raising the curiosity levels of movie-goers. The film is helmed by debutant director Mano Karthikeyan.

A time-loop film is one where characters experience the same period of time, which is repeatedly reset. In such films, when a certain condition is met, such as the death of a character or a clock reaching a certain hour, the loop starts again, with one or more characters retaining memories from the previous loop.

Several Hollywood movies experimented with the time-loop format, Christopher Nolan’s ‘Tenet’, being one well-known recent example, but the makers of ‘Jango’ claim that it is a first for Indian cinema.

The trailer release marks yet another milestone in the movie’s laborious progress to movie screens. The shoot was completed before the second lockdown and the post-production work was done after life returned to normal post Covid 2.0.

Mrinalini Ravi and Satheesh Kumar essay the lead roles in the action-thriller, and Ghibran has scored the music for the movie.

Actor Prakash Raj plans to form rival association to counter MAA

Actor Prakash Raj is said to be planning to form a rival association along with his MAA panel members.

In the wake of Movie Artists Association’s (MAA) presidential election results, Prakash Raj seems to be utterly disappointed. The south Indian actor mentioned that it was unfair to bring ‘regional’ feelings into these elections.

Now that Prakash Raj has reportedly gathered all the members of his panel, it is reported that there are discussions going on about another association in the favour of the Telugu Film Industry.

Actor Manchu Vishnu won the presidential elections, which were conducted a couple of days ago. Manchu Vishnu had made a series of comments regarding Prakash Raj, who backed actor Pawan Kalyan in one of his media interactions.

Prakash Raj who lost in MAA elections, resigned from his membership, saying that there was a deeper meaning in all that has been happening.

“Hi my dear MAA members who stood by us…There is a deeper meaning behind my resignation to MAA. We as a team know we are responsible towards the love n support you all have extended to us. We will NEVER let you all down…will explain very soon. you will be proud of us,” he tweeted on Monday.

Himansh Kohli unspools details of his new song ‘Chura Liya’

‘Yaariyan’ actor Himansh Kohli and actress Anushka Sen, who was recently seen in action-based reality show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 11’, are featured together in the song ‘Chura Liya’ which released on Tuesday. The actor talks about the theme of this song and his working experience with Anushka.

“It is a romantic track. It is hard to explain what the actual definition of love is. You got to watch the song to experience how amazing it is,” says the actor known for playing ‘Raghav Oberoi’ in the daily soap ‘Humse Hai Life’.

He describes working experience with Anushka: “Anushka is a very fun person and is a quick learner, pairing up with her felt like a breeze. She has a great energy on the set and we clicked the moment we met.”

Parampara and Sachet have sung the song. Himansh calls them a lovely couple and wonderful singers. “Parampara and Sachet are the loveliest couple I have interacted with. They blend so well that it felt as comfortable as working with regular actors. Currently, the couple is a social media sensation and I think they are one of the best singer couples in the country.”

Himansh says further that love stories connect well with the audience and all age groups like it. He shares: “Love is the least expressed emotion in actual lives but the most expressed genre in front of the camera. This is because we love to see what we desire and stories of love excite people of all ages.”

On the question that are music videos a better way to reach the fans and audience, he replies: “An actor should be versatile enough to make himself relevant to any medium. It is always fun to do a music video. But, I can’t deny how challenging it gets when you have to match words, moves, and the emotions of the character with the rhythm of the song. Sometimes the story from the lyrics, the story which the character is portraying, and the beat of the song are three different poles. But, when it gets challenging, it becomes an opportunity to do an award-worthy performance.”
