Touted to be a rural village drama, this flick has Sukumar’s narration and Charan’s star power but nothing in the commercial. But the producers Mythri Movie Makers who made this movie for an astonishing budget of 70 crores sold this movie for 80 crores worldwide. But the pre-release buzz worked like magic and guess what, Charan got his career’s best opening. From the two Telugu states, the movie raked in 19 crores of shares thereby pushing Bruce Lee (13 crores) to the second position. In the overseas, the movie collected one million dollars by the end of its first day including special premiers. Overall, Rangasthalam generated a revenue of 46 crores of gross which corresponds to the distributor share of 30.5 crores. Still, the movie needs to collect more than 50 crores to call it a safe venture. However, the first weekend collections will clear the movie’s stamina and tells us whether it will enter the safe zone or ends up being an average gross.
