Hindi remake of Rajamouli’s ‘Chatrapathi’ set for May 12 release

The official Hindi remake of S.S. Rajamouli’s 2005 Telugu blockbuster ‘Chatrapathi’, which also marks the big Bollywood debut of Telugu actor Sreenivas Bellamkonda, is all set for a pan-India release on May 12.

The action-packed teaser of ‘Chatrapathi’, which was dropped on Thursday, introduces the key character essayed by Bellamkonda, who pulls out all the stops for a perfect Bollywood launch with high-octane action and jaw-dropping stunts.

Says Bellamkonda: “I am happy to make my Bollywood debut with a special film like ‘Chatrapathi’, which is a thrilling and engaging mass action entertainer. Every moment working on this film was as exciting as it was challenging and we are happy to finally present it to audiences across India.”

The film is the official Hindi remake of S.S. Rajamouli’s Telugu blockbuster ‘Chatrapathi’ and is written by his father and veteran writer, V. Vijayendra Prasad, who’s known for his notable work in films such as ‘RRR’, ‘Baahubali series and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.

The big-ticket, large-canvas action entertainer is being produced by Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios and directed by V.V. Vinayak.

Gada said: “S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘Chatrapathi’ was an ideal project to reimagine for a pan-India audience. Apart from introducing the extremely talented Sreenivas Bellamkonda to an entirely new market, the film also has all the essential components of a mainstream entertainer.”

‘Chatrapathi’ tells the story of a man who rises against oppression to become the savior of immigrants subjected to massive exploitation.

Ravi Teja’s body language, diction, and getup are completely different from the never before seen character of the actor. Nupur Sanon and Gayathri Bharadwaj are roped in to play the leading ladies opposite Ravi Teja in the movie.

Actress Chitrangda Singh, who will be seen next in ‘Gaslight’, says she messaged actor Saif Ali Khan to talk about working with his actress-daughter Sara Ali Khan.

The actress was working with Saif Ali Khan in the 2018 film ‘Baazaar’ when Sara made her debut in the film industry with ‘Kedarnath’, starring late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Having worked with both father and daughter, Chitrangda was all praises for them.

Talking about this, Chitrangda Singh said, “It’s so strange that she (Sara Ali Khan) was doing her first film at that time when Saif Ali Khan and I were shooting for a film and now I am working with her.”

“I messaged Saif saying how wonderful his daughter is and how happy I was to work with her. She is lovely and has great energy on set. I had a great time working with both of them.”

‘Gaslight’ is a murder mystery and a classic whodunit. Produced by Ramesh Taurani, Tips Films Ltd., and Akshai Puri, 12th Street Entertainment, and directed by Pavan Kirpalani, the film releases on March 31 on Disney+ Hotstar.

The thriller also stars Vikrant Massey, Chitrangda Singh, Akshay Oberoi, and Rahul Dev amongst others.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who recently corroborated what many people knew about the power dynamics she experienced in the Hindi film industry, now her overseas manager Anjula Acharia has reacted to all the uproar caused by the actress’s revelation.

The actress had shared during a podcast that the reason behind her moving to Hollywood was because she felt she was “pushed in a corner by the industry collectively”.

Anjula took to Twitter to reply to a fan page and talked about the noise that naysayers’ make.

The Twitter user wrote: “Since #PriyankaChopra has finally spoken up, I would request everyone to read one of Anjula Acharia (PC’s US manager)’s interviews where she tells how when she signed PC for the talent deal, a group of Bollywood folks including a director-producer and some actors bitched about PC and tried convincing her from not working for her as according to them she was a talentless actor with no potential in the US, and that she would suffer massive losses. Anjula mentioned she went back with tears in her eyes.”

Anjula had told Forbes back in 2021 how a Bollywood director-producer and some members of the fraternity advised her against signing with Priyanka.

Replying to the tweet, Anjula tweeted, “Naysayers are just noise! You have to tune it out @priyankachopra is undeniable and we proved them all wrong :))) I knew she would be a global star the first time I saw her on TV.”
