Dhanush, Aishwaryaa part ways after 18 years of marriage

Choosing to end their 18-year-long marriage, actor Dhanush and director Aishwaryaa Dhanush, who also happens to be the daughter of superstar Rajinikanth, have announced that they have decided to part ways.

Late on Monday night, both the actor and the director put out a letter, which looked similar for the most part, on their respective social media handles. Dhanush, who was most recently seen with Sara Ali Khan in ‘Atrangi Re’, shared his letter on Twitter, Aishwarya chose Instagram.

In the letter posted on his timeline, Dhanush said, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting.

“Today, we stand at a place where our paths separate.

“Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this. Om Namah Shivaaya! Spread love!”

Aishwaryaa’s letter read pretty much the same except for the last line in which she said: “Much love always to you all! Godspeed.”

On Instagram, while posting the letter, Aishwaryaa added: “No caption needed. Only your understanding and your love are necessary!”

The decision of the couple, who have two sons, Yatra and Linga, comes as a bolt from the blue to the film industry.

‘Zombivali’ – first Marathi zombie film to hit theatres on Jan 26

Marathi film ‘Zombivali’, the poster of which was released on Monday, is all set to hit theatres on January 26.

The film is the first ever zombie film in the realm of Marathi cinema and stars Lalit Prabhakar, Vaidehi Parshurami, Amey Wagh and Trupti Khamkar.

The recently released poster of the film shows five characters, all charged up to face and slash the zombies as bravery is no longer an option but a necessity for them. Commenting on the release announcement of the comedy horror, actress Trupti Khamkar said, “Due to ongoing global pandemic everything was on hold but today the makers released the poster and it gave us all a ray of sunshine.”

She adds, “We have been waiting for this day patiently and here it is. This only makes us happy and proud. We are just one step behind to reach our audience.”

The film is written by Mahesh Iyer, Sainath Gabuwaad, and Yogesh Joshi and directed by Aditya Sarpotdar was earlier scheduled to release on February 4 but, the makers have decided to prepone the film’s release by almost a week.

Hyderabad cops use Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa’ poster to urge bikers to wear helmets

Looking to put the massive reach of director Sukumar’s blockbuster film ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, featuring Allu Arjun in the lead, to good use, the Hyderabad Traffic Police recently chose to use a picture of Allu Arjun from the film to create awareness among the public on the need to wear helmets while riding two-wheelers.

The movie, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead, continues to have a strong run even after a month in theatres.

In the poster put out by the police department, the superstar is seen wearing a checked shirt (from the movie) and riding a bike with a helmet on. The post emphasized how helmets save lives of people and urged citizens to wear them while riding two-wheelers.

After taking the box-office by storm with a record collection of over Rs 300 crore and its Hindi version nearing Rs 90 crore, ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ is bulldozing its way to record books.

After extending its theatrical run and getting an amazing response at the BO, the Hindi version of the movie had marked its OTT debut on Prime Video last week.

Interestingly, the superstar’s Telugu action drama ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’ (2020) is scheduled to release its dubbed Hindi version in cinemas on January 26.

Actress Anushka Shetty remembers ‘Arundhati’ as film completes 13 years

Actress Anushka Shetty has recalled working on one of her biggest hits in the Telugu film industry, director Kodi Ramakrishna’s ‘Arundhati’, saying the film will always be close to her heart.

On Sunday, the Telugu film, which went on to emerge a superhit, completed 13 years.

Anushka Shetty, whose star value increased considerably after her brilliant performance in the spine-chilling horror fantasy flick, took to Instagram to pen her thoughts on the experience of working on the film.

She said, “13 Years for Arundhati! Jejamma – A character once in a lifetime for any actress and I am truly blessed. Thanks to Kodi Rama Krishna garu, Shyam Prasad Reddy garu and the whole team. A very big thank you to all the lovely audience for their support & this movie will be always close to my heart.”

The film, which had cinematography by K.K. Senthil Kumar and music by Koti, won a whopping 10 Nandi Awards, which are given by the Andhra Pradesh state government. Of the 10, Anushka Shetty won a Special Jury Award while Sonu Sood won the award for Best Villain.

Director Lingusamy’s bilingual film with Ram Pothineni titled ‘The Warriorr’

The makers of director Lingusamy’s film with Telugu star Ram Pothineni in the lead on Monday announced that the film had been titled ‘The Warriorr’.

The Tamil-Telugu bilingual is an action drama that has triggered huge interest ever since it was first announced.

On Monday, the team chose to release the title and the first look of the film.

‘The Warriorr’ poster features Ram Pothineni as a police officer wielding a gun with a tough look, while cops surround him.

Says director Lingusamy, “The poster has triggered curiosity about the story that has the energetic star at its centre. Fans are sure to find this film exciting as they will see Ram donning the khaki for the first time.”

Sources close to the unit say that a fresh schedule of ‘The Warriorr’ has commenced in which crucial scenes are being shot.

The movie’s team vouches that it will surpass expectations of fans and that it will be one of the memorable police stories of south Indian cinema.

Aadhi Pinisetty, who is popular in both Kollywood and Tollywood, plays the antagonist. The film has Krithi Shetty in the lead, while Akshara Reddy will be seen in a pivotal role.

The upcoming action drama will be presented by Pavan Kumar and is a Devi Sri Prasad musical.

‘Bigg Boss Tamil’ spinoff ‘Bigg Boss Ultimate’ to get OTT release on Jan 30

Disney+ Hotstar is set to launch ‘Bigg Boss Ultimate’, the first-ever OTT exclusive season of the popular reality show, ‘Bigg Boss Tamil’, from January 30.

Khushbu Sundar condoles death of Pandit Birju Maharaj

Actress and politician Khushbu Sundar on Monday joined scores of other leaders and celebrities in condoling the death of Kathak legend Pandit Birju Maharaj, saying, “An era comes to an end.”

Taking to Twitter to share her condolence message, the actress said, “We have lost a stalwart in Pandit Birju Maharaj. He was an institution, an inspiration.”

Recalling a meeting she had with Maharaj ji during the shooting of the Kamal Haasan movie ‘Dasavatharam’, Khushbu said: “His smile, his eyes spoke volumes. World of dance and art will never be the same again.”

Pandit Birju Maharaj, who had been diagnosed with a kidney disease recently and put on dialysis, passed away late on Sunday night at Delhi home.

A recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, Maharaj ji was known for having made the Lucknow gharana of Kathak renowned throughout the world.

Vidyut Jammwal kickstarts shoot of his debut production ‘IB 71’

Action star Vidyut Jammwal flagged off the first schedule of his next film titled ‘IB 71’ directed by Sankalp Reddy on Thursday.

The espionage thriller is based on a true incident of how Indian Intelligence Officers outwitted the entire Pakistani establishment and gave the Indian armed forces the required advantage to face a two-front war.

The film is Vidyut’s debut production venture under his banner Action Hero Films in association with T-Series and Reliance Entertainment. Talking about the film’s first schedule, Vidyut Jammwal shares, “It’s a new beginning for my production house Action Hero Films. I’m thrilled about backing a film that revisits a glorious chapter in history. It’s a story of the brilliance of intelligence officers, whom I salute with all my heart. Rashmika Mandanna, lead actress of ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, is overwhelmed by the positive response garnered by the surprise blockbuster of 2021.

Meanwhile, expressing concern over the rising cases of COVID in the country, the actress has urged the audience to be safe and take necessary precautions to avoid any kind of spread of the virus. Talking about the grave situation Rashmika says “Also, would urge everyone to take all the necessary precautions at this crucial point, and take good care of themselves and their loved ones”.

Pooja Hegde set to have five releases in 2022

Actress Pooja Hegde, who dabbles in different film industries, will have a busy 2022 as she has five films lined up for release.
