Manchu Vishnu’s ‘Mosagallu’ deals in dollars

March 20,(Telugu Bullet)   Manchu Vishnu has returned to the Telugu silver screen after a long gap. He pinned high hopes on the explosive-action drama Mosagallu which has hit the theatres on Friday. Mosagallu tells the story of a middle-class family.

Tanikella Bharani is a man who stands by his philosophy of leading a loyal life and wants his children Arjun (Vishnu Manchu) and daughter (Kajal Aggarwal) to imbibe the qualities. Vishnu, a BTech graduate, works for an outsourcing company assisting US citizens in product queries.

And the paltry Rs 20,000 isn’t enough for him to run the family. His technical knowledge helps him earn extra money. Using the loopholes, he steals the personal credentials of his clients in the US and sells them off on the dark web.

His boss Vijay (Navdeep) observes him secretly and unveils a bigger plan well before Vishnu to earn dollars for a lifetime. And thus, the team of loyal staff, including Vishnu’s sister Kajal, comes on board to work seriously on the scam. Now, Navdeep has the idea of conning US citizens in the name of taxes.

The team starts off the work haphazardly and fumbles at the beginning in convincing the callers. Siddu (Naveen Chandra), who is involved in a few crimes and also an expert in handling illegal activities, gets added to the team. The experience makes them brace up to come up with more infrastructure, tactfully skilled and smart work staff in dealing with things.

Thus, the collaboration of the three — Vishnu, Navdeep and Kajal — rakes in millions of dollars in a very less time. The money gets transferred to India in the form of hawala. And gradually, the team expands business with better infrastructure and strides forward. With the meteoric leap in amassing illegal wealth, these conmen evade arrest from US police services.

And a tip-off from an employee to Interpol makes the story more gripping. Mosagallu, one of the high-budget movies directed by Hollywood filmmaker Jeffrey Gee Chin, has made much noise with promotional activities a week before its release.

Actor Manchu Vishnu also explained how he invested his heart and soul besides crores of rupees for its making. Conman dramas involving IT scams usually tend to deliver an edge of- the-seat thrill with a taut screenplay.

However, the makers here could’ve given a little focus to the script rather than focusing on technical wizardry and style of making. Cliched-dialogue writing and beating-around-the bush conversations, disjointed sequences would test the patience of viewers. The action sequences involving some high-spirited fights are appreciable as some top-notch technicians had worked on it. Sheldon Chau’s cinematography stands out to be the best.

Manoj Bajpayee: ‘Shool’ has become quite a game changer

Mumbai, March 19(Telugu Bullet)  National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee is all set to play a police officer in the upcoming thriller “Silence… Can You Hear It?” He recalls playing a cop in the 1999 film “Shool”, a film he believes became a gamechanger.

E. Niwas’ “Shool” cast him as Inspector Samar. Talking about playing the cop, Manoj said: “I have played a cop’s role in my 26 years of a career more than twice and I’ve enjoyed it every time. ‘Shool’ has become quite a gamechanger and has become a cult film in its own right. It has shown a lot of realism about the condition in which policemen work in our country. People related with it — with the policeman, the husband, the father, and even the son.”

Manoj added: “I’ve met so many people, actors, and filmmakers who have watched Shool at least once a week! We didn’t know how popular it would become when we were making it. ACP Avinash Verma in this film is very different. He is more brain than brawn professionally, and personally, he has his own issues. He is estranged with his wife and wants his daughter to stay with him.”

His new cop role is in “Silence… Can You Hear It?”, directed by Aban Bharucha Deohans. The film also stars Barkha Singh, Sahil Vaid, Vaquar, Shirish Sharma, Sohaila Kapoor, Amit Thakkar, and Garima Yagnik, and premieres on March 26 on Zee5.

Mouni Roy: Bhagwat Geeta must be part of school curriculum

Actress Mouni Roy feels the Bhagwat Geeta must be made a part of academic curriculum across India. The actress adds that she turned to the Hindu scripture during lockdown and, having discovered its core value, believes it should be inculcated at school level.

“I read Bhagwat Geeta Ka Saar in childhood but didn’t understand it until now. See, one of my friends started reading the Bhagwat Geeta and I also joined the class — this is before lockdown — and I didn’t make many classes due to hectic schedule. But during lockdown, I was very religious. I think it should be a part of our school curriculum. I genuinely feel that it is more than a religious book. It is ‘life ka saar’ (crux of life), eternal knowledge, and it is basic knowledge. If you have a question in your head, the Geeta has the answer,” said Mouni.

Asked if the entertainment sector needs to inculcate the teachings of the Geeta, she replied: “The Geeta is needed worldwide, not just in India or Bollywood or School. In India, it could change the orthodox thought process in families. We talk about ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’. Instead it should be ‘Beta Padhao, Beta Bachao’, I think society is in need of this knowledge or awareness.”

“We literally live in ignorance, and we actually come from a country of the Vedas and the Upanishad, yet we don’t do anything. We are sitting on a gold mine and we don’t do anything it. The entertainment industry is a stressful place, you don’t have the concept of Saturdays and Sundays, a 9-to-5 job, and we are constantly consumed in our minds and thoughts. So, for sure, the Geeta is needed here, but having said that I think (be it) the rural, the urban, and the metros, everyone is in dire need of the Bhagwat Geeta’s teachings,” added Mouni.

Mouni will be seen in Ayan Mukerji’s fantasy action adventure “Brahmastra” alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Nagarjuna, with Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo. Talking about working with such a talented cast, Mouni said: “Ayan Mukerji is a brilliant mind. He is all heart and I think he has given this project his life. If I remember it right, he told me that he has been working on this project for almost seven to eight years now. He is God’s child, for sure.”

“Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are fire on screen and they are beautiful human beings on sets. So, I feel very lucky. With Brahmastra, I got to work with Nagarjuna, and obviously Amitabh Bachchan — he is the greatest. I cannot forget the day I met Shah Rukh Khan. So, it’s like a dream you’d never thought would come true, and it has come true,” she summed up.
