Removal of details Telangana Tourism Brand Ambassador appointment to Harika

Hyderabad (Telugu Bullet) The state government has given a big shock to Dettadi Harika, who has been appointed as the Telangana Tourism Brand Ambassador. Srinivas Harika, Chairman, Tourism Development Corporation, was appointed on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Apart from issuing orders, she was also given an appointment order. However, controversy erupted over this. It seems that the appointment was made without informing the minister and his superiors.

The Minister of Tourism and other senior officials became serious about the matter. The affair went up to the Chief Secretary. Alerting officials immediately removed the details of Harika’s appointment on the official website. However, the details of her appointment are still on the official Twitter page of Telangana Tourism.

It is learned that before Harika, famous tennis player Sania Mirza was appointed as the brand ambassador of the Telangana state tourism department. Her name has recently been replaced by Harika. There has been a range of criticisms of Harika’s appointment. Netizens criticized her for being appointed as a brand ambassador based on any qualifications.

Amitabh Bachchan to be honoured with 2021 FIAF Award

New Delhi, March 10 (Telugu Bullet) Amitabh Bachchan will be conferred upon with the prestigious 2021 FIAF Award by the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF), the worldwide organisation of film archives and museums from across the world, at a virtual showcase scheduled to take place on March 19.

“I am greatly honoured to receive the FIAF Award for the year 2021, for a cause that I am deeply committed to. We must strengthen the idea that film archiving is as essential as filmmaking, and I do hope that we are able to garner further support for this most essential cause from my colleagues in the film industry and the government, to enable us to realise our dream for building a centre that will preserve and showcase our magnificent film heritage,” said Bachchan.

The 78-year-old Bollywood icon’s name was nominated by the FIAF affiliate Film Heritage Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation founded by filmmaker and archivist Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, dedicated to the preservation, restoration, documentation, exhibition, and study of India’s film heritage.

“We have been fortunate enough to enjoy the unstinting support of our ambassador Amitabh Bachchan, who has championed the cause of saving our film heritage and constructively wielded his influence to amplify the cause on a war footing in our part of the world. This is the reason we nominated him for the award, and he was unanimously voted by all FIAF members,” he said.

Filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan, who have been previous recipients, will give the award to Big B for his dedication and contribution to the preservation of and access to the world’s film heritage for the benefit of present and future generations, at a virtual presentation.

“Amitabh Bachchan’s advocacy for preserving India’s film legacy has been exceptional. With a career spanning over five decades, he is a celebrated actor who has put the considerable weight of his reputation behind the cause of film preservation in India and the entire subcontinent. They could not have chosen a more deserving individual to recognise this year,” said filmmaker Martin Scorsese.

“As a past recipient of the FIAF Award, I know how imperative it is that representatives of the film industry around the world come together to ensure that we preserve our film heritage. I want to congratulate Amitabh Bachchan on receiving the 2021 honour. As the ambassador for Film Heritage Foundation, he has played an essential role in putting the cause of film preservation on the map in India and the subcontinent,” said filmmaker Christopher Nolan.

Bumrah to marry TV presenter Sanjana

India pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah is likely to marry TV presenter Sanjana Ganesan this month.

Social media was full of posts that the two were getting married either on March 14 or 15 in Goa, though neither Bumrah nor Sanjana confirmed the news.

Bumrah opted out of the fourth and final Test against England, apparently due to this reason. India won the Test to clinch the series 3-1 and enter the final of the World Test Championship.

Sources had said at the time that the right-arm fast bowler had pulled out citing ‘personal reasons’ and had sought permission from the Indian cricket board (BCCI), which gave him permission to withdraw.

Bumrah is unlikely to play in the five-match T20 International series against England that starts on March 12, also in Ahmedabad.

The talk in Ahmedabad during the fourth Test was that he was likely to get married to a sports presenter.

Bumrah, with his mother and sister, was due to travel to Mumbai on way to Goa.

Only a select few family members are likely to attend the wedding due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, sources said.

The India team members would not be present due to the ongoing series as well as restrictions.

Bumrah was born and brought up in Ahmedabad. He and his sister were raised by their mother after the death of their father. Bumrah’s mother was the vice-principal of Nirman Public School where the fast bowler studied and first took up cricket under the coaching of Kishore Trivedi.

Arshi Khan buys a flat in Mumbai

Arshi Khan, who was recently seen on “Bigg Boss 14”, has fulfilled her dream of buying a flat in Mumbai.

Arshi reveals she had planned to buy a house in Mumbai before last year but then lockdown happened. “I was in talks to buy the property for a long time. I booked it in 2019 but then in 2020 Covid happened. I was not that strong financially at that point, and with no work, I was literally stressed about how I would arrange the sum,” she recalled.

Her luck, however, turned for the better. “Luckily my movies happened then, besides OTT shows. ‘Bigg Boss’ was a great help. I was literally risking everything to buy a house here in Mumbai, just to make my dream come true,” she said.

“I feel my dream has been fulfilled by the blessings of God and my parents. It was God who gave me the fortune to do Bigg Boss this year. I remember being approached for the show last to last year, but unfortunately, things did not fall in place. So, I am in a happy place now,” she added.

“I always had a dream to own a house in Mumbai for a long time now. I was living on rent. I also own a flat in Bhopal and a farmhouse there. But having a dream house in Mumbai was like buying a flat on the moon, and but I am living it!” Arshi signed off.

Parineeti Chopra: ‘Saina’ was the challenge I was looking for

Actress Parnieeti Chopra says the forthcoming sports biopic “Saina” was the challenge she was looking for because she was doing similar roles for a long time.

“I was looking for a challenge. The kind of films I was doing, was more or fewer extensions of me, or perhaps what writers and directors thought of me. They were writing roles that were similar and I was choosing films that were similar. When this movie, Saina, came into my life, I was exactly looking for a film like this,” said Parineeti.

“I was looking for something to surprise everyone with. I was looking for something I was not known for. I am known as the happy girl-next-door type, but that is not me. I wanted to show the real me on the big screen. A sports biopic about a person who is still playing and known as the crazy tigress on the court is something I was looking for,” she said.

Earlier, actress Shraddha Kapoor has roped into the essay the role of badminton ace Saina Nehwal in the biopic. Shraddha reportedly dropped out owing to her health condition.

Talking about being trolled on social media after the teaser release, Parineeti said: “I have a different thought process. If I believe that someone is making a genuine point, I tend to agree with them. But when I know that someone is just heckling and saying stuff just to say stuff, I just ignore them.”

Parineeti claimed that her goal with the film was to make people understand and respect the game of badminton and its players in India.
“We play Galli cricket and badminton, and I thought to myself I can learn it within two to three days but that was not the case. Then I realized that people who play badminton for India or internationally are altogether different than what we know. So, my personal goal with this film is for people to understand whatever the sport, do respect it. Badminton needs to be respected because I don’t know any sport that is as hectic and difficult to play like badminton, though the players make it look easy,” she said.

“Saina” is directed by Amole Gupte and is set for a theatrical release on March 26.

Sshrey Pareek to join cast of ‘Qurbaan Hua’

Television actor Shrey Pareek is all set to enter the show “Qurbaan Hua” in a negative role. He says that he loves playing negative characters because such roles help him explore his craft.

“I think negative roles have no limitations, no bars to follow. While with positive roles, you have to draw a line. In the show, I’m playing a grey character and I am from the girl’s side. The story is about religion and its consequences. So I have come to take revenge from the boy for what has happened before and will try to make her sister fall for me and take revenge through her,” he told IANS.

Sshrey, who has been part of “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai”, says to join an ongoing show halfway is challenging and he does feel there is a lot of responsibility on him.

“When you enter midway there is a lot of responsibility on you to make the show better. All the actors on the show are already established and for me, it’s hard to make a mark in between. But the best part is I have already worked with the producers before on ‘Devanshi’, so I know the team,” he said.

The actor says shooting in the new normal world, amid the pandemic, has been a different experience. “Today a lot of safety measures are in place to prevent the curb of COVID-19 on sets. One major difference I find is earlier all the teams would sit together and talk, discuss but that is missing now. That warmth is still kind of missing. I hope everything gets normal soon,” he said. He has started shooting for the show.

Director Nathalia Syam: Actor’s ability to suit the role matters

“For me, more than anything, it is the actor’s ability to suit the role. I feel even if it is someone who is debuting if you are able to convince your audience, then you have been successful,” she told IANS.

“Footprints On Water” stars Adil Hussain, Nimisha Sajayan, and Antonio Aakeel. The story of the film is about an illegal immigrant father in the UK, trying to look for his missing daughter.

She adds she has never really had issues with her films competing with others as she feels that today all kinds of content have their audience.

“I have never really believed in competition. I feel that there will always be people who will appreciate our kind of story. The lines have blurred today thanks to OTT and audiences from everywhere can enjoy your film,” she says.

Nathalia says that the fact that her film is a thriller adds “commercial value” to it. “The thriller element is still there. That will make it commercially viable,” she says.

George Clooney’s ‘ER’ act doesn’t impress wife Amal

Actor George Clooney has revealed that his wife, Amal Clooney only recently started watching re-runs of his popular TV Show, “ER”.

“My wife is watching them now,” he said in an interview on the “SmarLess Podcast” with hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes.

Unlike most fans who swoon over Clooney’s charm as Doug Ross in the show, Amal isn’t too impressed, reveals Clooney.

“Yeah, that’s not my wife. It’s getting me in a lot of trouble because I’d forgotten all of the terrible things his character Doug Ross was doing picking up on women,” he said, referring to the fact that Doug was quite the ladies’ man on the show.

In real life, too, Clooney was regarded as the ladies’ man but all that changed, the actor says, after Amal came into his life.

“She was brilliant and funny and beautiful and kind. I was sort of swept off my feet. We got engaged after a few months and got married within the first year that we met. It surprised me more than probably anybody else in the world—and everybody else was pretty surprised,” he said on the podcast.
