Manchu Lakshmi who was last seen in W/O Ram is working on various scripts for films and OTT platforms. “After W/O Ram, I did a Tamil film. 90% of the offers I’m getting are of negative roles. I indeed am open for all kind of roles. But, I’m looking for good scripts of late,” says Lakshmi.

With the lockdown delaying her Nishabdham’s release indefinitely, Anushka is already busy planning her next projects. As per a source in the know, Anushka is all set to reunite with UV Creations, the banner that bankrolled some of Anushka’s biggest hits, including Mirchi and Bhaagamathie.

Apparently, Anushka’s next project is a lady oriented film and it will be made in the romantic entertainer genre. P Mahesh, who had directed Sundeep Kishan’s 2014 action entertainer ‘Ra Ra Krishnayya’, will be directing Anushka in his second film.

The film’s pre-production is underway already and more details about the project will be revealed at an appropriate time after Tollywood limps back to normalcy. But what’s interesting is that, despite her super stardom, Anushka continues to choose content-oriented movies instead of going for films with star directors.

Former IAF pilot Gunjan Saxena has penned a note praising actress Janhvi Kapoor and film’s director Sharan Sharma after the teaser of “Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl” was released.

Janhvi took to Instagram and shared a note written by Saxena, who said that the teaser brought back memories.

“Very rarely have old memories flashed in front of me in such a sweet manner as was experienced after watching my montage with the voice-over of Janhvi Kapoor. I guess it is the time for the culmination of an enriching journey that started with Sharan Sharma three years back. And what a journey it has been with Sharan. I have always admired his honesty, sincerity, and sensitive compassion while portraying my life on the big screen,” Gunjan wrote.

Gunjan calls herself lucky as Sharan and Janhvi are narrating her story.

“Everybody at my age has a story to tell. Lucky few like me have Sharan and Janhvi to narrate my story. None of the life journeys is a walk in park and mine was no different. But at times a one-track mind on goal does help. During my tenure in IAF, whatever little I could achieve was with the help of men and women in blue uniforms.”

Janhvi captioned the image: “It’s an honor to know you let alone have the privilege to be able to understand your journey and share it with the world. Hope we make you proud Gunjan Maam.”

“Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl” is inspired by the life of Indian Air Force combat pilot Gunjan Saxena, and stars Janhvi in the titular role. Saxena entered the war zone during the 1999 Kargil War.

Directed by Sharan Sharma, the cast also features Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, Viineet Kumar, Manav Vij, and Ayesha Raza.

Netizens questioned Renu Desai

0

The fans of Powerstar Pawan Kalyan have shown perpetual interest in the actor and his ex-wife Renu Desai’s topic and they never get bored of it. Some of his ardent fans even get emotionally excited when talking about their love life or on their divorce. The couple, who split their ways back in 2012, are not comfortable talking about their divorce on the public domain, just like any other ex-couples.

In fact, Renu Desai has quite a few times articulated that she feels comfortable only when fans leave things easy without fussing more about her past. Her latest photo today shows Renu wearing black beads. Netizens are quick to observe it and questioned her on the same. Some have expressed their queries on why is she still wearing it even after divorcing PK. Some raised doubts if she remarried now.

Black beads have a prominent significance in Indian marriages and it is to indicate love and commitment during marriage towards each other. Yes, Renu Desai wore it despite her divorce but do we seriously need to look into her personal space? There is a thing called freedom and she deserves it. Users asking her repeatedly about such trivial things are quite regressive. However, if there is anything happening in her personal life, let’s wait and see until she announces.

One cannot decide just by looking at a woman if she is a divorcee or married as many modern women don’t wear black beads in spite of leading a happy life with husbands. Similarly, just because Renu Desai wears it still, doesn’t mean she is still into Pawan Kalyan. Fans are also curious that she must have married secretly to someone, which also leaves us chuckled and facepalmed.

Though black beads/Mangalsutra are a sign of marital status, we believe, Renu Desai must be still bounded by the concept of true love, ethics and her own personal belief system which we shouldn’t invade. Well, what are your views on it? Leave it in the comment section.

Lara McDonnell: Josh Gad is just great

0

Actress Lara McDonnell says working with actor Josh Gad is a fun ride, adding that they were “trying so hard not to crack up the whole time” while shooting for the film “Artemis Fowl”.

“The first scene I did with Josh wasn’t actually a proper scene, it was just improvised together to see what we would look like together, and this was ages before we began filming and it was the most funny thing I’ve ever done in my life,” McDonnell said while recalling her experience of shooting with Gad.

“We were trying so hard not to crack up the whole time. He just knows the character so well. But Mulch (Gad’s character) is always silly and he’s funny and that’s why I think he’s a lot of people’s favorite character because he’s always there to bring the fun, and he’s kind of like insane and crazy, but really funny. Josh is just great,” she added.

“Artemis Fowl” brings alive the world of the book by Eoin Colfer, taking the audience on a fantastical adventure into the magical world of fairies, dwarves, and centaurs. It narrates the story of a 12-year-old genius, Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he goes on a mission to save his father who has been kidnapped.

In the movie, Gad will be seen as the giant dwarf Mulch Diggums and McDonnell essays the character of Holly Short, an 84-year-old fairy.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, “Artemis Fowl” also features Ferdia Shaw, Tamara Smart, Nonso Anozie, Josh McGuire, Nikesh Patel and Adrian Scarborough, with Colin Farrell and Judi Dench.

Amid the Covid-19 crisis, “Artemis Fowl”, which was scheduled to open in theatres, will now get a digital premiere on Disney+ Hotstar.

‘Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain 3’ was challenging: Director

0

The audience has given thumbs-up to “Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain 3”, but helming the new season was not easy, confesses director Abhijit Das.

“There was a lot of pressure. I had to do the maximum amount of homework for this (season). It is one of Ekta Kapoor’s biggest franchises and it has a legacy I had to live up to. The challenge is always greater when you are handling such a franchise. To keep the interest alive, to do justice to the characters, and make it edgier keeping with the new age — everyone in the team is looking at you to deliver better than the earlier seasons,” Abhijit told IANS, about directing the third season of the show.

He describes the lead cast of Ronit Roy, Mona Singh and Gurdip Punjj as his “dream” team.

“They are my dream come true. This is my third venture with Gurdip. We worked together in ‘Sanjivani’ and a short film on the Lock down. She is fun to work with. It’s effortless doing a scene with her,” he said.

“Mona is a delight as an actor. She surrenders completely. I have seen very few actors who can give different minute nuances of emotions just by expressing,” he added.

Speaking of Ronit, Abhijit shared that he is no less than a surprise package.

“Ronit was a surprise every time I did a scene with him. He created a new dark and debauched Rohit Mehra. It was good on paper. Jaya Misra’s creation of the twisted Rohit Mehra was a far cry from (what the character was in) the first two seasons. But what Rohit brought to the table was something else. His voice. The stubble. The way he walked. It was all him. We would work on scenes and remove dialogues, for he would deliver all the words without saying anything. He is one of the most intelligent actors I have worked with,” Abhijit said.

Disney to reopen California theme parks next month

0

Disney theme parks in Anaheim, California, will begin a phased reopening from July after being closed nearly three months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company said.

The Disneyland Resort, which is home to two theme parks — Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, will reopen on July 17, pending state and local government approvals, Xinhua news agency quoted the company as saying in a statement on Wednesday.

July 17 is the 65th anniversary of the opening of Disneyland Park.

Additionally, Downtown Disney District will begin reopening on July 9 and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel plans to reopen on July 23, said the company.

“Once approved, the Disneyland Resort will reopen with enhanced health and safety measures,” it added in the statement.

Certain experiences that draw large group gatherings, such as parades and night-time spectaculars, will return at a later date.

While character meet and greets will be temporarily unavailable, characters will be in the parks in new ways to entertain guests, the company said.

According to Disney, theme park capacity will be significantly limited to comply with governmental requirements and promote social distancing, and all guests will need to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance.

Disney announced at the end of last month that another flagship theme park in North America, the Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, will begin a phased reopening next month.

As a result of COVID-19, Disney closed its North American parks and resorts, cruise line business and Disneyland Paris in mid-March, while the company’s Asia parks and resorts were closed even earlier.

The Shanghai Disneyland reopened on May 11 under a slew of healthy and safety measures, becoming the first among six Disney theme parks worldwide to welcome visitors again.

The company said last month that COVID-19’s estimated impact on the US entertainment giant’s income from continuing operations before income taxes was as much as $1.4 billion during the second quarter for fiscal 2020.

Big B-starrer ‘Chehre’ producer out to make more suspense thrillers

0

The suspense drama “Chehre” starring Amitabh Bachchan is ready for release, and meanwhile, the film’s producer Anand Pandit is out exploring the genre with a couple of fresh scripts.

“I love scripts that have uncertainty and are not predictable because there is so much one can do with those (stories). I like it when my viewers are kept thinking of what’s going to happen next. To keep the audience guessing is an art and I love that challenge,” said Pandit.

The producer is looking at a two-month deadline to finish scripting and start working on both the movies.

“The movies are for theatre but will suit an OTT audience as well. After all, suspense thrillers are a big draw on OTT,” he said.

“I am looking forward to working with a brand new set of actors. New talent should be given a chance and the hunt is on, including online auditions from across the country,” said Pandit.
