Anushka Sharma: Success of ‘Paatal Lok’ is because of its content

0

Anushka Sharma is naturally “overwhelmed” with all the accolades her new production, the web series “Pataal Lok”, has received.

“I’m overwhelmed with the love and adulation that the audience and critics have showered on our labour of love ‘Paatal Lok’. The success of ‘Paatal Lok’ is because of its content. In today’s day and age, superlative content is truly the most important yardstick and (her brother) Karnesh and I, at (their production house) Clean Slate Filmz, have always looked to give the audience something that they might have never seen before,” Anushka said.

“As a producer who is also an actor, I have only tried to entertain through innovative, highly engaging and clutter-breaking storytelling,” she declared.

Anushka, who stepped into film production in 2015 with “NH10” at the age of 25, says she has brought her learnings as an actor at play.

“Karnesh and I realised quite early that content landscape was going to witness a massive change as we get more and more exposed to global content, and I have tried to bring my learnings on this as an actor at play with Karnesh at Clean Slate Filmz.”

Anushka says the success of “Paatal Lok” validates her production company’s strategic focus on content curation.

“Despite being a young production house, we have stuck our neck out and thankfully our instinctive content choices have stood out. It has been a huge learning experience for all of us at Clean Slate Filmz as we have taken baby steps into having a razor-sharp focus on content curation. The success of ‘Paatal Lok’ is a massive validation of our beliefs, planning and curation strategies.”

Anushka credits the entire team of the web-series for the success and says she has learnt as a producer in the process.

“We share this incredible moment with our entire team, who have shared our vision and taught us many things in the process. ‘Paatal Lok’ creator Sudip Sharma has been the captain of the team, leading from the front. It is his brilliance that has captured the underbelly from a lens that’s unique, inspiring and discomforting,” she said.

“The directors of the show, Prosit Roy and Avinash Arun Dhaware, have starkly and breathtakingly brought alive the rawness of the script on screen and our exceptionally talented cast led by Jaideep Ahlawat, Neeraj Kabi, Abhishek Banerjee and the likes of Swastika Mukherjee, Niharika, Jagjeet, Gul Panag, Ishwak, Asif Basra, among others have poured their hearts out to translate the magic of script to screen,” she added.

When Vidya Balan was stumped by Jisshu Sengupta’s attitude

0

Vidya Balan has alleged that Jisshu Sengupta “showed attitude” by not speaking to her on their first meeting. He did not even smile at her properly, she added.

The topic came up during a recent Instagram live chat featuring Vidya and her “Shakuntala Devi” co-star Jisshu. At one point of the conversation, Vidya accused in jest that when filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh introduced her with Bengali star Jisshu, he “showed attitude”, did not speak to her or smile at her properly, reports zeenews.india.com.

Jisshu promptly denied the allegation. Laughing his heart out, the actor said that Vidya often says this in front of others just to pull his leg! He added that if he had not spoken to her on their first meeting, it was probably because he was “scared” –she was Vidya Balan, after all.

The actress, of course, had praise in store for Jisshu’s negative act in Srijit Mukherji’s Bengali film, “Rajkahini”, which was later re-made in Hindi as “Begum Jaan”, incidentally starring Vidya.

“I loved you in ‘Rajkahini’ and I couldn’t believe it was the same you in ‘Piku’!” said Vidya, referring to the fact that Jisshu had a far more affable role to play in Shoojit Sircar’s “Piku”.

On the work, Jisshu Sengupta and Vidya Balan will be seen as husband and wife in “Shakuntala Devi”. In the upcoming film, Vidya Balan essays the role of Shakuntala Devi who was also known as “Human computer”. The film directed by Anu Menon also stars Sanya Malhotra and Amit Sadh in key roles. It will release on Amazon Prime Video next month.

Actress Kirti Kulhari has promoted the idea of simple eating, and said it is better for the system and for the world.

Kirti took to Instagram, where she shared a photograph of her basic meal — chappatis, lentils, vegetables and curd.

“The simpler the better…For your system and the World.. I could have posted it as a story and people could have reacted and that’s it.. but I have put it here to talk about this idea of #keepitsimple … It’s something I have been striving to achieve for a while… And am surely getting better at it… It’s an attitude which is not limited to one area, situation or person…” Kirti wrote alongside the image.

She added that it is an attitude that starts reflecting in everything one does.

“And like everything else, it comes with practice and time… If u think about it, it should be the easiest to #keepitsimple but unfortunately it’s not, for most of us… And who is to blame We… We have complicated everything and we love complicating everything as if there’s actually a prize for ‘who’s can make it the most complicated’..”

She asked everyone to strengthen their faith in “keep it simple”.

“This lockdown, among other things has strengthened my faith in #keepitsimple … And given me enough time and opportunity to truly practice it.. from the meals I eat to the way I talk to what I do with my skin… There’s a conscious attempt to #keepitsimple …”

“Start with the simpler things and you will see how it grounds you in life and helps you see the SIMPLICITY of the so-called complicated situations and people and relationships… There’s so much PEACE to be experienced when you learn to #keepitsimple … Much Love… Stay blessed all of you.”

Kirti was recently seen in the second season of “Four More Shots Please!”, which is reportedly the most-watched show from India so far this year on Amazon Prime Video.

The web series tells the tale of four unapologetically flawed women as they discover life while balancing friendship in Mumbai.

A controversy has been surrounding actress Jyothika’s upcoming movie ‘Pon Magal Vandhal’ as there came reports that the film is gearing up for OTT release on Amazon Prime. This is said to have not gone down well with Tamil Nadu theatres management and expressed their disapproval with producer of the film Suriya.

Reacting on this, media claimed that Suriya fumed over theatres managements and made it clear that he would go ahead with the release of ‘Pon Magal Vandhal’ on OTT.

However, the team of Suriya has issued a clarification on the statements that are doing rounds in the media circles. They added that Suriya never commented in harsh way but accepted the issue of OTT release of the film is going on. Further the team said, the discussions are on between producer Suriya and theatres management.

Suriya himself is personally looking into the issue and very soon the talks will come to a logical conclusion so that none will get affected by this. Hope this will settle things for now as unmade comments by Suriya are going viral on the social media.

Here’s how Sushmita Sen defeated Addison’s disease

0

Actress Sushmita Sen revealed that she was diagnosed with Addison’s in 2014, and it was ‘meditating with Nunchaku’ that helped her overcome the disease.

For the uninitiated, Addison’s is a disorder in which the adrenal glands don’t produce enough hormones.

Sharing her battle with Addison’s, Sushmita took to her YouTube channel and wrote: ” After I was diagnosed with an Auto immune condition called Addison’s disease in September 2014, it left me feeling like, I had no fight left in me…A fatigued body filled with immense frustration & aggression. The dark circles under my eyes can’t even begin to explain the dark times I endured for 4 long years.

“To have steroids substitute cortisol and to live with its innumerable side effects took its toll. There is nothing more tiring than to live with a chronic illness. Enough was enough, I had to find a way of strengthening my mind, allowing my body to follow suit.”

Explaining how meditation with Nunchaku helped her, the “Main Hoon Na” actress added: “Meditated with #Nunchaku …Aggression out, fight back in and pain turned into an art form. I healed in time, my adrenal glands woke up, no more steroids, no withdrawals and no auto immune condition as of 2019.”

She also shared about the lessons she learnt from the hard phase.

“No one knows your body better than you, listen to it. There is a warrior in all of us, never give up. Thank you to my Teacher Nupur Shikhare for being my rock through this journey.I love you guys,” Sushmita said.

Along with it, Sushmita posted a video that shows her performing various steps with Nunchaku, which is a martial arts weapon, traditionally used in Okinawan style.
