Nitish Kumar demands that the CBI investigate the murder of the reporter
On Monday, Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recommended a CBI investigation into the murder of a senior journalist. He expressed deep regret and pain over the tragic incident, stating that he had instructed officials to take appropriate action against the perpetrators.
Vimal Kumar, the senior journalist, was fatally shot by unidentified attackers in front of his residence in the Prem Nagar area at approximately 5 a.m. on Friday morning.
The police, who assert that they are close to solving the case, have disclosed that the directive to assassinate Vimal Kumar originated from Siwan jail, where former Member of Parliament and prominent figure of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Mohammad Shahabuddin, is serving a life sentence for a murder conviction.
Upendra Singh, a close associate of Shahabuddin, was interrogated by the police and reportedly revealed that the order to kill Vimal Kumar had been issued around two weeks prior.
