Oil Tanker Collides With Vessel Off China Coast- 32 Missing!

Thirty-two crew members, including 30 Iranians and 2 Bangladeshis have all gone missing when an oil tanker collided with a cargo ship off the coast of east China.The oil tanker is a Panama –registered and is carrying 136000 tons of oil condensate, caught fire minutes after it collided with a Hong Kong-registered bulk freighter at around 8 pm yesterday, said the transport ministry.
The collision happened in water about 160 sea miles east of the Yangtze River’s estuary. A total of 32 went missing and they are identified as crew members of the oil tanker. While the members from the bulk freighter have been rescued, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The authorities of Chinese maritime have dispatched eight vessels for search and rescue. After the coordination of China Maritime Search and Rescue Center, South Korea has dispatched a coast guard ship and a fixed-wing aircraft to back in the rescue operation, the report said.
However, the reasons are yet to be known for the collision, investigation agencies are speculating that the tankers are en route to North Korea. Once the rescue operations complete proper investigation will take place.
