OpenAI declares the GPT-4 model to be generally available.
OpenAI, the company owned by Microsoft, has announced that its latest text-generating model, GPT-4, is now generally available through its API (Application Programming Interface). Paying API customers can access GPT-4, which comes with 8,000 contexts. It plans to expand access to new developers by the end of the month and gradually increase rate limits based on compute availability.
ChatGpt stated that millions of developers have requested access to the GPT-4 API since March, and the number of innovative products using GPT-4 is growing. The company also outlined its deprecation plan for older models of the Completions API and recommended users switch to the Chat Completions API, which offers a structured interface and multi-turn conversation capabilities, making it suitable for building conversational experiences and various completion tasks.
OpenAI has also made the GPT-3.5 Turbo, DALL·E, and Whisper APIs generally available. Additionally, the company is working on enabling fine-tuning for GPT-4 and GPT-3.5 Turbo and anticipates making this feature available later in the year.
