fake currency and liquor smuggling racket busted
Two individuals were arrested by the Sri Krishna Puri police station in Patna after conducting a raid on a multi-story residential complex located in the upscale Boring Road area. The raid, which occurred late on Monday night, was carried out in connection with a fake currency and liquor smuggling racket.
Upon receiving information that a shipment of liquor was stored in an apartment named Raja Ram within the Boring Road area, the local police formed a team and conducted the raid on one of the flats in the Raja Ram apartment complex.
“At the time of the raid, there were six individuals present in the flat. Upon spotting the police, they attempted to flee. One of the suspects tried to escape by breaking a window but ended up fracturing his leg in the process. He was subsequently apprehended. Another person was also arrested at the scene, while four others managed to escape,” stated Vidhan Chandra, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sri Krishna Puri police station.
“During the search operation, we discovered counterfeit currency amounting to Rs 1.77 lakh in denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 200. Additionally, we recovered a substantial number of partially printed currency notes in denominations of Rs 500, Rs 200, and Rs 100, along with a printer, a significant quantity of currency papers, and colors from the flat,” he added.
“Furthermore, in addition to the counterfeit currencies, we also seized a substantial number of liquor bottles,” Chandra concluded.
