The Supreme Court has taken notice of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s petition challenging his arrest in a money-laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. Kejriwal’s appeal contests the Delhi High Court’s ruling that upheld his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The bench, comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta, has directed the ED to respond to Kejriwal’s plea by April 24. The case is scheduled for a hearing in the week commencing April 29. Kejriwal’s arrest by the ED on March 21 stemmed from his alleged non-compliance with multiple summonses and refusal to cooperate in the investigation into corruption and money laundering surrounding the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22.
Despite Kejriwal’s legal challenges, the high court upheld his arrest, citing the ED’s limited options due to his repeated failure to engage in the probe. As the legal battle continues, Kejriwal remains in custody at Tihar Jail.

In the race for the Lok Sabha, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana has surged ahead, demonstrating agility in candidate selection and Election Campaign commencement. Despite encountering minor defections, the party swiftly regained momentum, emerging as a formidable contender across multiple parliamentary constituencies.
Under the astute guidance of Leader of Opposition and BRS President K. Chandrashekhar Rao, the party has launched a relentless offensive against both the Congress and the BJP. Rao’s proactive approach includes a series of public engagements, roadshows, and interactions with various segments of society, solidifying the party’s electoral foothold.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unleashed an assertive campaign across Telangana, leveraging the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Despite encountering challenges in its traditional strongholds, the BJP is intensifying ground-level outreach efforts, aiming to capitalize on the Modi factor and the party’s Hindutva agenda.
In contrast, the Congress party in Telangana has faced setbacks, with delays in finalizing candidates and internal conflicts dampening its campaign momentum. Despite repeated visits by the TPCC President and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to Delhi, candidate selection remains unresolved in crucial constituencies, hindering the party’s electoral preparations.
As the Lok Sabha election approaches, all three major parties are gearing up for a fierce electoral battle in Telangana. While the BRS maintains its lead with proactive campaigning, the BJP adopts an aggressive stance, and the Congress grapples with internal turmoil, the political landscape remains dynamic, presenting both challenges and opportunities for each contender.
