0

Former Minister T Harish Rao has called for criminal action against SB Organics Limited for operating an expired reactor, following a chemical factory blast that claimed six lives. He demanded Rs 50 lakh ex gratia for victims’ families and government jobs, and Rs 25 lakh for the injured, criticizing both the government and company management for neglecting their responsibilities.

Rao visited MNR Medical College Hospital to meet the chemical factory blast injured victims and then SB Organics Limited to console the families of the deceased and injured. He alleges that the management’s use of an expired reactor caused the accident and accuses authorities of mishandling the aftermath, urging free treatment for the injured and support for transporting bodies.

He condemns the police for using force against victims’ families and pledges support, including financial assistance, while also criticizing the district administration, police, and SB Organics’ management for their negligence in providing relief.

KTR Calls on Congress Government to Bring Tesla Plant to Telangana

BRS Working President, K. T. Rama Rao, urged the Telangana government to actively pursue bringing Tesla to the state, responding to reports of the company exploring sites in India for an electric car plant worth $2-3 billion. Emphasizing the state’s progressive industrial policies, Rama Rao encouraged Tesla to visit Hyderabad and consider the potential benefits of establishing operations there.

Tesla is said to be sending a delegation to India this month to scout locations for the proposed plant, following the Central government’s recent tariff adjustments aimed at incentivizing local production of high-end electric vehicles.

Previously, as Telangana’s Minister for Industry and Commerce in 2022, Rama Rao had extended an invitation to Tesla CEO Elon Musk to consider setting up operations in the state, highlighting Telangana’s commitment to sustainability and its reputation as a leading business destination in India.

Lal Salaam and Ayalaan to Hit OTT

Streaming platform Sun NXT is offering a second chance to two films that didn’t quite hit the mark at the box office.

Rajinikanth Lal Salaam OTT Release Date: featuring him in a special appearance, fell short of expectations despite the star power and the talents of director Aishwarya Rajinikanth and music composer A.R. Rahman. After facing criticism for script changes, Lal Salaam OTT release date on Sun NXT is April 15th.

Looking ahead, Rajinikanth has two new projects to redeem himself: Vettaiyan and an untitled film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

sci-fi action film Ayalaan, starring Siva Karthikeyan and Rakul Preet Singh, also had a bumpy road to release. Originally planned for a Telugu theatrical release alongside the Tamil version during Sankranthi, Ayalaan got stuck due to scheduling conflicts and financial issues. However, the film found decent success in Tamil Nadu.

Now, Telugu audiences can experience Ayalaan OTT release date is on April 19th! With its unique genre and positive reception in Tamil, Ayalaan is expected to do well on the streaming platform.

Sun NXT’s acquisition of these two films offers a chance for fans who missed them in theaters to catch up, and perhaps for the films themselves to find a wider audience.

Tragedy Unfolds: Kolkata Building Collapse Claims 13 Lives

0

The death toll from the collapse of an under-construction five-storey building in Kolkata’s Garden Reach area on March 17 has risen to 13, with Mainul Haque succumbing to injuries. Haque, who was undergoing treatment at a city hospital, passed away late Tuesday night after being rescued from the debris and subsequently shifted to S.S.K.M. Medical College & Hospital.

Criticism has been directed towards the Trinamool Congress-led Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) following the incident. Questions have been raised regarding how the building’s promoter obtained permission for a five-storey structure in the narrow lane of Garden Reach, near the Kolkata dock area. The promoter has been arrested.

Disagreements emerged between city mayor Firhad Hakim and deputy mayor Atin Ghosh regarding the incident. While the mayor stated that identifying illegal constructions was not the responsibility of KMC or the local councilor, the deputy mayor insisted that the corporation cannot evade responsibility. Subsequently, KMC established a seven-member probe panel to investigate the building collapse.

World Bank Warns of Impending Poverty Surge in Pakistan

0

The World Bank has issued a cautionary statement, predicting that over 10 million Pakistanis might slip below the poverty line due to sluggish economic growth and soaring inflation, expected to reach a staggering 26 percent this fiscal year. In its bi-annual report titled ‘Pakistan Development Outlook,’ the World Bank paints a bleak picture of the country’s economy, suggesting it could miss major macroeconomic targets.

The report underscores the inadequacy of poverty alleviation efforts despite a modest economic recovery, projecting economic growth to stagnate at a mere 1.8 percent. With around 98 million Pakistanis already living in poverty, approximately 10 million more individuals are at risk of falling into poverty due to various economic shocks.

Additionally, the persistent inflationary pressures and rising living costs pose challenges such as increased out-of-school children and delayed medical treatments, exacerbating food security concerns. The World Bank warns that unless addressed, chronic inflation and policy uncertainty could fuel social unrest and further worsen welfare outcomes.

Economic growth prospects remain subdued, with the current fiscal year expected to see growth of only 1.8 percent, significantly below the official target of 3.5 percent. The outlook for the next fiscal year is equally grim, with growth projected at a meager 2.3 percent, falling below the population growth rate of 2.6 percent.

The report attributes the sluggish recovery to prudent monetary and fiscal policies, import management measures aimed at preserving foreign reserves, and subdued economic activity amid weak confidence. Overall, the indicators on circular debts, inflation, and GDP growth paint a bleak outlook for Pakistan’s economy, offering little hope for improvement in the near future as more citizens slide into poverty each day.

Adani Green Energy Sets New Standard: Surpasses 10,000 MW Operational Capacity

0

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) achieved a groundbreaking milestone by surpassing 10,000 megawatts (MW) of operational capacity, marking a historic feat for India’s renewable energy sector. AGEL’s diverse portfolio, comprising 7,393 MW solar, 1,401 MW wind, and 2,140 MW wind-solar hybrid capacity, will power over 5.8 million homes and mitigate approximately 21 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, expressed pride in this accomplishment, hailing AGEL as India’s pioneering force in the renewables domain. With a relentless commitment to actualizing a greener future, AGEL has swiftly transformed from a mere concept into a powerhouse with 10,000 MW of installed capacity in less than a decade.

This remarkable achievement underscores AGEL’s leadership in the renewable energy landscape, aligning closely with India’s ambitious goal of achieving 45,000 GW of renewable energy by 2030. Gautam Adani emphasized the Adani Group’s unwavering dedication to accelerating India’s transition towards clean, reliable, and cost-effective energy solutions.

Furthermore, AGEL’s operational excellence is evident through its certifications as ‘single-use plastic free,’ ‘zero waste to landfill,’ and ‘water positive for plants with over 200 MW capacity.’ The company’s commitment extends beyond operational efficiency, with plans underway for developing the world’s largest renewable energy project spanning 30,000 MW in Khavda, Gujarat. This monumental endeavor, sprawling across 538 sq km—an area five times the size of Paris and nearly equivalent to Mumbai city—reaffirms AGEL’s position at the forefront of sustainable energy innovation.

Water Crisis in Telangana Escalates: BRS Leader KTR Blames Government

Water Crisis in Telangana Deepens: BRS Leader Demands Action

In a bold move against the Congress-led government, BRS working president KT Rama Rao squarely blames it for the severe scarcity of drinking and irrigation water crisis in Telangana. He calls for immediate action to address the crisis, demanding free water tanker services and compensation for affected farmers’ families.

Addressing the media at the party headquarters in Telangana Bhavan, Rama Rao criticizes the government’s handling of the situation, citing instances of citizens resorting to desperate measures for access to water, including long queues and street fights over water tankers.

Citizens in Distress: Long Queues and Street Fights Over Water

Rama Rao highlights the dire situation faced by citizens in Hyderabad and Secunderabad, where over 2.3 lakh water tankers were booked in March alone. He condemns the government’s inefficiency, stating that people are resorting to desperate measures for access to water, including long queues and street fights.

He asserts that drinking water is a fundamental right and advises against imposing charges for it. Rama Rao reminisces about the BRS regime’s provision of free water to millions of families in Hyderabad and surrounding areas, emphasizing the government’s responsibility to ensure access to this essential service.

Efficient Water Management Urged as Resources Remain Untapped

Despite ample water resources available, Rama Rao criticizes the government’s mismanagement, pointing to drying reservoirs and unutilized projects. He calls for efficient utilization of existing resources, suggesting solutions like completing the Sunkishala project and lifting water from Sripada Yellampally to address Hyderabad’s drinking water needs.

Rama Rao accuses the government of political witch-hunting and diversion tactics, urging a focus on real issues plaguing the state. He challenges the government’s claims regarding the failure of projects like Kaleshwaram, pointing out recent operational activities that contradict such assertions.
