Over 800 people are hospitalized in Iran due to sandstorms.
Over the past five days, a total of 833 individuals in the Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan have been sent to hospitals and medical centers due to health issues caused by sandstorms, according to state media reports. Majid Mohebi, the head of the province’s Disaster Mitigation and Management Organization, stated that out of those affected, 128 people were hospitalized primarily for respiratory problems, heart conditions, and eye ailments resulting from the black blizzard.
Seyed Mohammad Mehdi Sajjadi, the head of the Sistan and Baluchestan Red Crescent Society, mentioned that over 6,000 face masks were distributed to local residents in the areas impacted by the storms. Mohsen Heidari, the director general of the province’s meteorological organization, warned that strong winds are expected to persist in the coming days, potentially leading to more sandstorms. It is typical for the province to experience powerful summer winds from May to late September each year.
