Sony has sold over 40 million PS5 consoles since their initial release
Sony has reported that it has sold over 40 million PlayStation 5 (PS5) consoles since its launch in November 2020. The company faced challenges due to the pandemic, which affected supply chains, causing delays in meeting demand. However, now the PS5 supply is well-stocked, and pent-up demand is finally being fulfilled.
Despite the difficulties, they managed to ship 6.3 million PS5 consoles in the March quarter of this year, and a total of 19.1 million units in fiscal year 2022. The console has seen strong sales, making it the fastest-selling console in the history of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE).
With more than 2,500 PS5 games available, ranging from indie titles to AAA blockbusters, the console has a diverse library of games for players to enjoy.
Furthermore, Sony recently announced the ‘Access controller’ for the PS5, which will be available globally on December 6. This controller allows users to customize their layout, connect third-party accessibility accessories, and pair up to two Access controllers and one DualSense wireless controller together for collaborative gaming experiences.
