In light of a partial lunar eclipse that is scheduled to happen on the intervening night of October 28 and 29, Lord Venkateswara Swamy’s hill shrine at Tirumala will be closed for a brief period of time. The temple was closed for approximately eight hours, but it will reopen on October 29.
A partial lunar eclipse known as “Chandra Grahanam” is predicted to occur on October 29 from 1.05 am to 2.22 am. In order to preserve the grounds during the eclipse, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) have decided to close the temple doors on October 28 at 7:05 p.m.
When the eclipse is over, on October 29 at 3.15 am, the temple doors will reopen after the customary Suddhi and Suprabhata seva at Ekantam. The temple’s scheduled closure is in keeping with a long-standing tradition that keeps it closed during eclipses to protect its holiness.
According to TTD, Sahasra Deepalankara Seva has been postponed for today due to the temple’s temporary closure. In addition, there will be no darshan for the elderly or disabled. The Annaprasadam distribution would also end at all Tirumala locations on October 28 at 6 p.m. It is advised that followers take note of these timetable adjustments and make the necessary arrangements to ensure their comfort during this period.
