Users can now transfer WhatsApp chats from iOS to Pixel, Android 12 phones

Google has announced that WhatsApp’s chat history migration feature to transfer messages from iPhones to Android is now coming to Pixel and all other Android 12 smartphones.

This feature is already available on Samsung Galaxy devices but unlike with Samsung phones, where the feature is available on devices running Android 10 and above, here it is limited to phones with Android 12.

“You can safely transfer your chat history and memories from your WhatsApp account on iPhone to Android. We worked closely with the WhatsApp team to build a new set of capabilities, all designed to make it easier to switch from iPhone to Android and take your WhatsApp history with you,” the company said in a statement.

In order to successfully bring WhatsApp chat history from an iPhone to a compatible Android device, one will need a USB-C to Lightning cable. Google says that while setting up Android phone, one will be prompted to scan a QR code with your iPhone, which will let the user start the transfer process.

“Your WhatsApp chat history will simply be copied from your iPhone to your new Android phone, and we’ll automatically make sure you don’t receive new messages on the old device while the transfer is in progress,” the company added.

Recently, WhatsApp also started rolling out end-to-end encrypted chat backups for iOS and Android users globally.

With the new update, if a user chooses to back up his chat history with end-to-end encryption, it will be accessible only to him, and no one will be able to unlock the backup. Neither WhatsApp nor the backup service provider will be able to access their end-to-end encryption backup.

The feature will be rolling out “slowly” for people on the latest version of the app.

Hrithik Roshan wraps up first action sequence of ‘Vikram Vedha’

It’s been over two years since Hrithik Roshan appeared on celluloid. Fans have been waiting to witness his next performance on the silver screen and it seems like their wishes will be soon granted.

Earlier, Hrithik had made an announcement about getting back to shooting schedule for the upcoming film ‘Vikram Vedha’. And now, it’s learnt that the actor has recently wrapped the first ever action sequence from the film.

The news came out when a few stuntmen from the film’s set shared pictures of the sequence wrap. The stunt sequences seem to be quite crazy as suggested by the stuntmen. Talking about the same, a stuntman posted on his instagram as he wrote, “Wrapped up the first action sequence of Vikram Vedha. A big ‘Thank you’ to @parvez.shaikhh sir for this opportunity. Wouldn’t have been possible without you ?? @hrithikroshan.”

Another stuntman posted, “First craziest action sequence have done (sic).!! Cheer’s To @hrithikroshan @parvez.shaikhh @stuntindia1 and all the stunt boys.!!”

‘Vikram Vedha’ is a Hindi remake of the runaway Tamil hit of the same name which was released in 2017. While the original action thriller starred R. Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi, the Hindi version will see Hrithik Roshan squaring off against Saif Ali Khan.

Smart hospitals to be worth $59 bn globally by 2026: Report

0

The market value of smart hospitals will reach $59 billion by 2026, up from $29 billion in 2021, according to a report on Tuesday.

The estimate represents an average annual growth of 15 per cent, revealed the report by UK-based market research firm Juniper Research.

The concept of the smart hospital includes healthcare providers leveraging advanced analytics, connected devices, and healthcare platforms to improve care, productivity, and operational efficiency.

The new report also identified the US and China as leading smart hospital adopters, accounting for $17 billion of market value in 2021. By 2026, the US and China will account for over 60 per cent of global smart hospital spending.

Digital healthcare initiatives implemented in light of the Covid-19 pandemic and high levels of existing digitalisation within healthcare infrastructure are the major reasons, according to the report.

However, it also cautioned that the need for pre-existing digital infrastructure, such as electronic health records, will limit smart hospital roll-outs to developed regions. As a result, it anticipates that Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East will represent less than 5 per cent of global smart hospital spending by 2026.

Moreover, the report outlined how a current lack of interoperability between devices and platforms has resulted in a high degree of fragmentation that will require regulatory intervention on a country-level basis.

“Vendor lock-in and high investment requirements are the most prevalent issues for healthcare providers in adopting smart hospital services. At a time when healthcare industries are still feeling the impacts of the global pandemic, the long-term benefits of smart hospital services must be demonstrated to foster confidence in these services’ ability to secure a return on investment,” said research author Adam Wears, in a statement.

‘Saami Saami’ fails to match hype around Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa’

With Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles, the upcoming pan-India movie ‘Pushpa’ generated good hype all around. With its release date slated during the Christmas season, the Sukumar directorial is expected to be a very big hit.

Team Pushpa had announced to release the third single ‘Saami Saami’ from the movie. The song features Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, as it is supposed to be a duet. Though the poster released for this song attracted the attention of all, the song fails to catch up with the ongoing craze.

A promo was released, which was expected to boost the hype around the release of the third lyrical- ‘Saami Saami’, which didn’t happen. It appears like the song is composed in a mediocre way, which fails to grab the attention of music lovers.

The ‘Saami Saami’ song will be out on the 28th of October at 11:07 AM, and it so features Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in rural getups.

As the makers of Pushpa already released two songs from the movie, the songs ‘Dakko Dakko Meka’ and ‘Sri Valli’ managed to get instant attention from all over. Even at the initial stages, when the promos were released, these songs caught up with the hype.

‘Pushpa’ will be released in the theatres on December 17. The Sukumar directorial is funded by Mythri Movie Makers and Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil as a villain.

Allu Arjun plays a sandalwood smuggler in the action-oriented drama.

Rahul’s place beside Sonia, a message to dissenters?

In a clear message to party workers, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday said that discipline is paramount, giving a subtle message to the dissenters. Sonia Gandhi in the meeting of Congress General Secretaries, State In Charges and State Presidents chalked out party’s future plans ahead of assembly polls in five states.

Seated beside Sonia Gandhi was Rahul Gandhi, the former Congress president, who is likely to be the next party chief, the elections of which are to be held next year.

On Tuesday, Sonia said clearly, “I would like to re-emphasise the paramount need for discipline and unity. What should matter to each and every one of us is the strengthening of the organisation. This must override personal ambitions. In this, lies both collective and individual success.”

The optics on Tuesday showed that Congress leaders and workers have to work with Rahul Gandhi and the message was specially for the dissenters, said an insider. In the CWC meet on October 16, Sonia Gandhi had made it clear that she is taking decisions in the party, saying she is the “full-time Congress President”.

“I am, if you will allow me to say so, a full-time and hands on Congress President,” she had said while addressing the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting.

Facebook redirected for ‘serving young adults’: Mark Zuckerberg

0

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday said he’s redirecting teams within the company to “make serving young adults their north star”.

The comment, made on a call with investors this afternoon, is focused on the social networking giant’s concerns about declining usage among teenagers and young adults, The Verge reported.

“So much of our services have gotten dialed to be the best for the most people who use them, rather than specifically for young adults,” Zuckerberg said.

With new changes, Facebook usage among older users will grow slower, he said, which according to him is “the right approach”.

While the changes may take years, an immediate shift could be seen on Instagram. The platform is likely to see “significant changes” to lean further into video and make reels “a more central part of the experience”, Zuckerberg said.

The shift toward video is a clear response to TikTok, which Zuckerberg called “one of the most effective competitors we’ve ever faced,” the report said.

As per leaked Facebook documents, the company is considering to increase usage among younger users, including revamped groups, job finding tools, and “mood feeds”, it added.

A report by The Verge on Monday showed that Facebook and Instagram are losing young users at an alarming rate as the millennials and Gen Z now opt for more immersive social game platforms like TikTok, Snapchat, Fortnite, Roblox and more.

Teenage users on Facebook in the US are projected to drop 45 per cent over the next two years, driving an overall decline in daily users in the company’s most lucrative ad market, while posting by teenagers on Instagram dropped 13 per cent from 2020 and “remains the most concerning trend”.

Facebook has been working on Groups+, meant to let young people join groups for specific personalities and “close-knit communities” as a way to “increase cultural relevance”.

The social media giant is also planning to rebrand the company with a new name that focuses on the metaverse.

The Metaverse is a set of virtual spaces where one can create and explore with other people who aren’t in the same physical space.

Facebook CEO Zuckerberg is expected to announce the new branding at the company’s Connect conference on October 28.

Samantha invokes Shilpa Shetty’s example in court case

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who had filed a defamation case against a couple of YouTube channels and an individual, is in no mood to rest until she gets things right.

It was reported that the Kukatpally court here had trashed Samantha’s appeal to take legal action against those who she claimed defamed her.

The actress who wanted legal action to be taken against her defamers was asked to seek an apology from them instead. The court had cited that the celebrities share personal details and then file defamation cases, which was not the right thing.

Not ready to take it, Samantha had to bring her advocate in her defence. It is reported that Samantha’s attorney has cited the recent ‘permanent injunction order’ case filed by Shilpa Shetty as the reference point to Samantha’s case now.

After her husband Raj Kundra was arrested in a pornography case, Shilpa Shetty had approached the Bombay High Court. The court passed the permanent injunction order, restricting media outlets from reporting derogatory reports pertaining to her.

Samantha’s legal team indicated that she could approach the court for a similar verdict in her defamation case as well. The court has now reserved the judgment on Samantha’s defamation case and will be heard soon.

Samantha’s divorce announcement came as a shocker to all, after which multiple websites and YouTube channels started speculation related to her personal life and spreading rumours about the actress having affairs with her colleagues.

WhatsApp may soon ask users to verify identity to make payments

0

Facebook-owned WhatsApp may soon ask users to verify their identity to make payments on the platform.

According to XDA Developers, new strings spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta release suggest that the messenger will require users to upload verification documents to continue using payments on WhatsApp.

Currently, when users set up WhatsApp Pay in India, the service only verifies the phone number linked to your bank account to enable UPI-based transactions.

In Brazil, the messenger uses Facebook Pay to validate users’ credit or debit cards to facilitate payments.

At the moment, the service doesn’t require users to submit any identity verification documents to make payments. However, that might change soon, the report said.

WhatsApp v2.21.22.6 beta includes a few new strings which suggest that users might have to submit identity verification documents to continue using payments.

The identity verification might be limited to those who use WhatsApp Pay to receive payments for their businesses.

UPI-based apps, like Google Pay, PhonePe and even WhatsApp Pay don’t require users to submit any documents to transfer or receive money. However, wallet apps like PayTM do ask for KYC verification as per RBI guidelines.

WhatsApp is yet to make an official announcement regarding this change. Since the new strings have just made their way to the beta version, it might be a while before the company reveals any details, the report said.

Anushka Sharma trolled after Team India’s defeat to Pak in T20 World Cup

The high-voltage match between India and Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup saw an end to India’s winning streak against its neighbour in the World Cups. Fans were left heartbroken at India’s defeat and although many of them agreed that it wasn’t the best of days for the Indian cricket team, others retorted to trolling cricketers and their spouses.

While India’s ace bowler Mohammed Shami was trolled for his performance, angry fans took no time to direct their hate towards Anushka Sharma, captain Virat Kohli’s wife. A section of netizens took to Twitter where they blamed and incessantly trolled the actress for Kohli and Team India’s poor performance. Some people dug up the couple’s earlier appeal of not bursting crackers for Diwali.

And some even went a step further and questioned the actress about her “Karwa chauth vrat”. A user wrote, “@AnushkaSharma Mam, aapne kal karwachauth ka vrat nahi rakha tha kya? #IndiaVsPak #T20WorldCup2021”

Another user posted, “@AnushkaSharma you a bad luck to Kohli. After you came to his life, his performance has gone down and your Leftist mindset (got from Khans to get movie). Please give him divorce for the sake of India…”

This is not the first time that the actress has been subjected to such massive trolling. In the past too, Anushka has found herself at the centre of hate after every key match of Team India. In 2016, Kohli had come out in support of Anushka when trolls spewed venom against her after Kohli’s less than perfect performance in the T20 internationals.
