Notices From The NIA Are Sent To Varalaxmi Sarathkumar In A Drug Case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has requested popular Tamil actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar to assist in their inquiry related to a case involving her former personal assistant, who is suspected of being connected to a significant drug and arms smuggling operation. On August 18, NIA officials seized 300 kg of heroin valued at Rs 2,100 crore, along with firearms, from a fishing boat in Kerala.
The NIA has initiated legal proceedings against several individuals, including Varalaxmi’s ex-assistant, under various statutes, suspecting that the contraband may have been brought into the country from overseas. She has been asked to provide a statement concerning her association with the individual under suspicion.
The actress, renowned for her roles in popular films, has not yet commented on the matter. This development has stirred significant attention in the Tamil film industry, given Varalaxmi Sarathkumar’s prominent family background. The NIA is expected to question her about her awareness of the accused’s activities and any potential involvement in the smuggling case.
