Stale Food Allegations: 11 Students Fall Ill at KGBV Hostel

Date:

Eleven students from a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Narsapur mandal center fell ill due to suspected food poisoning after having dinner at their hostel, marking the second such incident within three weeks. KGBV’s in-charge special officer, Vanitha, reported that 11 students complained of stomachache and diarrhea, with three hospitalized and seven sent home at parental request.

Concerned parents urged officials to address recurring food safety issues, highlighting the impact on students’ education. This incident follows a previous case on April 3, where 25 students fell ill after allegedly consuming stale breakfast, resulting in the suspension of the then-special officer Sunitha, head cook Padma, and accountant.
