Up to 50K users can now participate in Google Chat rooms.
Google has recently announced that it is increasing the maximum number of members allowed in a Google Chat space to 50,000, up from the previous limit of 8,000. This change is aimed at facilitating better connectivity and a sense of belonging within organizations, enabling larger communities and support-related spaces.
Additionally, Google has introduced the ability to easily search for members within a space. If a member is present, their role can be changed, and if a member is not present, they can be added to the space.
These features are available to all Google Workspace customers and do not have admin control. The company had previously rolled out features for space managers, including the ability to control whether members can add or remove other members or groups to a space, as well as options for space configuration and conversation moderation.
Furthermore, Google recently introduced a new media viewer for Google Chat on Android devices, aiming to enhance the media browsing experience. The update includes a shared media option, allowing users to quickly browse through all media shared in a Chat conversation, accessible from both the conversation and the full-screen view of each media item.
