Date:

All-rounder Hardik Pandya left the field after twisted his ankle while delivering the first over over here on Friday, giving India an early lead over Bangladesh in their World Cup match.

Pandya tried to use his right foot on his followthrough to halt Bangladesh opener Litton Das’s straight shot on the third delivery of the ninth over. But as the ball went beneath hardik Pandya, he twisted his ankle, which caused the all-round player to trip and fall to the ground.

Pandya was uncomfortable from the minute he stood up, and he took a while to have his right ankle taped before eventually getting up and walking to his bowling spot.

Pandya left the field at this point, and Suryakumar Yadav entered the game to fill in as the replacement fielder.

However, Virat Kohli rolled his arm over to finish the over, letting up just two runs, much to the joy of the audience. Bangladesh, who had chosen to bat, came back from a poor beginning to score 63 for no loss after 10 overs.
