CM Chouhan provides 6.5L of assistance after washing a tribal man’s feet.
Officials announced that the government of Madhya Pradesh has granted Rs 6.50 lakh as compensation to the tribal laborer who was subjected to a humiliating act of having urine poured on him by a man. Out of the total amount, Rs 1.50 lakh has been allocated for the construction of a house for the victim’s family. The announcement came shortly after Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan personally met with the victim, washed his feet, had breakfast with him, and planted a sapling in Bhopal. The Chief Minister also apologized to the tribal laborer on behalf of the inhumane act committed by Pravesh Shukla, who is reported to be a worker associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Sidhi collector Saket Maliya posted a message on Twitter confirming that, as per the Chief Minister’s instructions, an assistance of Rs. 5 lacks has been sanctioned to tribal Dashmat Rawat, along with an additional Rs. 1.50 lakh for the construction of a house. Dashmat, who works as a laborer at a local market, resides in Kubri village in the Sidhi district.
In a widely circulated video, Pravesh Shukla, who was connected to local BJP MLA Kedarnath Shukla, was seen urinating on Rawat’s face. Pravesh Shukla has been placed in Rewa’s central jail, facing serious charges including the National Security Act (NSA) and other sections.
Furthermore, the house owned by Pravesh Shukla’s family was demolished as it was declared illegal. However, Shukla’s family has questioned the state government’s decision, as they now find themselves without shelter or basic amenities. The administration demolished their house, leaving Shukla’s wife, elderly parents, and toddler daughter to survive in makeshift arrangements during the rainy season. The family has been dependent on kind neighbors who provided them with meals. Shukla’s wife expressed that the house was built by her grandmother and claimed that they were given 24 hours notice to vacate the premises due to alleged lack of permission from the local panchayat. She criticized the administration’s actions, stating that such measures are not reflective of a democratic system.
