After rolling out its voice over WiFi service in Delhi-NCR earlier this month, Bharti Airtel Monday expanded the service to Mumbai, Kolkata, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
‘Airtel Wi-Fi Calling’ allows Airtel customers using WiFi calling capable handsets to make calls using a WiFi network without costing any extra data cost.
‘Airtel Wi-Fi Calling’ leverages cutting edge technology to enhance the indoor voice calling experience for Airtel smartphone customers. The innovative service uses WiFi networks to create a dedicated channel for voice calls and allows customers to make telco-grade calls to any network. This dramatically improves the customer experience as one can seamlessly switch to Airtel Wi-Fi Calling, ” an official statement read.
The service does not require any app and can be configured on the smartphone by simply checking smartphone compatibility on airtel.in/wifi-calling, upgrading device software to support WiFi calling, and switching on WiFi calling on the device with VoLTE enabled for a seamless experience, said the company.
The smartphones that are currently compatible with the WiFi calling feature include the iPhone 6s series and above, Redmi K20, K20 Pro, POCO F1, Samsung J6, A10s, On6, M30s, and all OnePlus 7 models.
