The Nandamuri Balakrishna – Boyapati Srinu duo has always been a special treat for the mass audience. Their previous blockbusters Simha, Legend, and Akhanda created a storm at the box office. Now, the iconic combination is back with the much-awaited sequel, Akhanda 2: Tandavam, raising sky-high expectations across the industry.
Given the hype, there has been stiff competition among OTT platforms to bag the digital rights. Reports suggest that Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for a whopping ₹80–85 crore, making it one of the most expensive OTT deals for a Balayya film. Interestingly, Netflix also recently bought Balakrishna’s Daku Maharaj at a fancy price.
The decision makes sense, as the dubbed Hindi version of Akhanda received a phenomenal response on YouTube, winning Balayya a strong fan base in the North. Hence, Akhanda 2: Tandavam is planned as a pan-India release, arriving in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The glimpses and posters already unveiled have further amplified expectations.
In the sequel, Balakrishna will be seen in dual roles, with Boyapati reportedly designing a powerful Aghora character. The cast includes Samyukta Menon, Aadi Pinisetty, and Harshali Malhotra in key roles. The film is being produced by Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner, presented by Balakrishna’s daughter Tejaswini.
Music is composed by S. Thaman, whose electrifying background score for Akhanda is still a fan favorite. Naturally, expectations are high for his work in this sequel as well.
Though originally scheduled for a September 2024 Dussehra release, the film was delayed due to production schedules. The latest update confirms that Akhanda 2: Tandavam will hit the big screens in the first week of December 2025.
With Balayya riding high on four consecutive hits—Akhanda, Veera Simha Reddy, Bhagwant Kesari, and Daku Maharaj—fans strongly believe that Akhanda 2: Tandavam will turn out to be the biggest blockbuster of his career.
