Moeen Ali has confirmed that he will not be joining England on their Test tour of India
Moeen Ali, the experienced off-spin all-rounder, has confirmed that he will not be participating in England’s Test tour of India next year, despite head coach Brendon McCullum’s plea for him to join the team. Moeen had come out of Test retirement in September 2021 after Jack Leach’s injury ruled him out of the Ashes due to a stress fracture in his back. He played four matches in the thrilling Ashes series before deciding to retire from Tests again after England’s victory against Australia in The Oval Test.
Moeen stated that the team management knew about his decision from the beginning, especially when the Indian venues for the tour were announced. Despite McCullum‘s attempts to convince him, Moeen remained firm in his decision and expressed that he has no intention of going to India. He is content with his decision and is glad to finish on a positive note and be part of a memorable day.
England’s next Test assignment after drawing the Ashes 2-2 is a five-match series in India, scheduled from January 25 to March 11 next year. The venues for the series are Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamshala. However, Moeen Ali has chosen not to be a part of this tour.
