Andhra Pradesh Generates 5 Million Metric Tons of Fish:

Andhra Pradesh stands as the leading fish producer in the nation, boasting a robust production of 5 million metric tons achieved through a combination of aquaculture, capture fisheries, and inland fisheries. This announcement came from V. Venkateswara Rao, Joint Director of Fisheries, during the closing ceremony of a three-day seafood festival held in Rajamahendravaram on Sunday.

Rao highlighted that the state currently cultivates aquaculture across 200,000 hectares of land, yet the average annual fish product consumption remains at a mere 8 kg per person. To boost this figure, the state government has established 2,000 Fish Andhra outlets throughout the region, to increase individual consumption to 10-15 kg.
