Anurag Basu Breaks Silence on Aashiqui 3 vs Saiyaara Storyline Rumors
Mohit Suri’s romantic drama Saiyaara, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has defied expectations to become a massive box office hit, inching toward the ₹300 crore mark. With its emotional narrative and powerful performances, the film has caught the attention of both audiences and industry insiders.
However, the film’s unexpected success sparked rumors that another upcoming project—Anurag Basu’s much-anticipated film with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela, speculated to be Aashiqui 3—features a similar storyline. Social media chatter suggested that both films deal with a heroine suffering from Alzheimer’s and that Basu’s team was now revising the script to avoid overlaps.
Putting the speculation to rest, Basu firmly denied any such changes.
“Mohit and I are close, and I already knew Saiyaara’s story well before its release,” he clarified. “Yes, the heroine in Saiyaara has Alzheimer’s. But in my film, Sreeleela’s character does not have Alzheimer’s or any related condition. There is no rewriting or reshooting happening.”
He also confirmed that while the project was initially aiming for a Diwali 2025 release, it has now been postponed to 2026.
“We’ve completed about 40% of the shoot. The next schedules are planned for August or September, depending on Kartik Aaryan’s availability. He’s currently busy filming Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri,” Basu shared.
With the remaining shoot scheduled to resume soon, fans can expect more updates as the production progresses.
