Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan wishes Neeraj well ahead of the World Athletics 2023 finals
Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan‘s prominent Javelin thrower, has commended India’s Neeraj Chopra for his performance in the ongoing World Athletics Championship 2023 and extended his best wishes to him ahead of the finals.
Nadeem, who recently recovered from a year-long knee injury, achieved his season-best throw of 86.79m, securing his place in the finals just after Neeraj Chopra in the ongoing championship in Budapest. Neeraj Chopra, the Indian star athlete, surpassed the qualification mark with an impressive throw of 88.7m, guaranteeing his spot in the finals. Both athletes have also met the qualification criteria for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Nadeem expressed his support for Neeraj on Instagram, emphasizing his desire for Chopra to excel in the finals. He also displayed confidence in his own abilities, aiming for a remarkable performance in the upcoming finals on Sunday.
Nadeem stated, “My competition is with myself. I threw 90.18m at the Commonwealth Games last year and aim to surpass that in this competition. I feel good physically. Inshallah, I will enjoy the final.”
These two athletes have crossed paths multiple times in their careers. Nadeem clinched the Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham last year with an impressive throw of 90.18m, marking the best performance by any South Asian in the sport.
